Considering that being drunk in public is the most heinous offense usually seen in England.

That would count as excessive force. Blunt object to the head counts as deadly force. Flashlight to the thigh is always allowable and tends to take the fight right out of the bad guy. If you hit the nerve on the side of the thigh it causes a hell of a charlie horse.

What if you were just helping him lay down comfortably without harming himself and happened to accidentally nick him?

YOu have to love Colorado weather. On the way to the office this afternoon I drove through sun, then rain, then snow, then sun, rain and now cloudy. The drive to the office took 25 minutes.
