Well I suppose it makes a change from me lowering the tone at work.

I've just seen my first ever magazine explosion on HMS Durban in my PBEM Made me feel all warm and glowing on the inside, just like the ship.

Dixie,

Glad to hear that there is a corrective action program. My only experience with that sort of thing was way....way back in ROTC. We had 20 people enter our senior class, but only 3 saw active duty (it was at the beginning of the big defence cut backs).

I'm sure you will kick some @$$ the next time around.

TBH I was always going to struggle with the running, I'm not one of nature's runners. I felt I was doing alright right up 'till everything decided not to work anymore. I also think I tuned wrong or overstepped 'cause my muscles are aching around my groin (no comments from anyone )

I should pass it next time with better preparation, ie not getting up 15 minutes before I was due at the gym It could have been worse, I've seen people black out or throw up during these tests.

Oh, no comments, ok. You should take a nice long soak in a hot tub. That helps a lot.

....and dont forget the sultry blonde....those help a lot too.

My wife might not approve, especially as she's not blond (without the extra 'e' )

Has anyone else noticed that Onime actually seems to do less work than everyone else, even ME   judging by the amount of time he spends on the board?   Is this management in operation?

Only execs; if you are middle management you are to busy catching it from both sides. Of course, you can always delegate the spamming.

I NEVER BLACKED OUT RUNNING. OUR TRACK COACH IN HIGH SCHOOL WAS TOO SMART TO LET THAT HAPPEN. PLUS, I WAS THE SLOWEST GUY ON THE TEAM LITERALLY. MY FATHER AND THE COACH (THEY WERE CO-WORKERS) WERE JUST GLAD I WAS OUT THERE TRYING. SO WAS I FOR THAT MATTER. IT WAS FUN.

BRUCE DEFINE FUN. WELL THERE WAS THAT DAY IN HIGH SCHOOL WHEN THE COACH TOOK US 7 MILES OUT OF TOWN IN HIS VAN AND DROPPED US OFF AND SAID "RUN BACK TO SCHOOL"

Whilst I'm here I'll do something constructive for once.

Seeing as there are now 4 extra a/c art slots for the allies in the latest patch, what should I fill them with?  One is already taken by the Hawk 81A-2, the other 3 are up for grabs.  Extra recon planes (PR Spitfire, F-7, F-10 and F-13 are all options), more late war types/ early post war (Sea Fury, Brigand, Meteor, Tempest, Twin Mustangs) or more early war types (Anson etc) or something else?

I found out something slightly annoying today.

One of the blokes on our shift is leaving the RAF soon, and as a swansong he got to go on a troop run staging through Bangor (Maine, not North Wales) which should have 3-4 days in th US.  They were getting ready to leave Bangor when the engine started smoking and dumped all of it's oil.  The engine needed to be changed, but the jet wasn't safe enough to fly the distance required over the pond to get home, so it was decided to change the engine in the States.  IIRC it took 3-4 days to sort out tools, a new engine, a team to change it and transport to Bangor.  The engine change usually takes a few days with quite a lot of tests to be carried out on it.  All this got done, they were then running up the engine to come home, when the new one went belly up and was going to need changing   IIRC things were complicated by the fact that the engine they'd put in was the last one we had serviceable at base
The upshot of this is that a 4 day trip for one guy has ended up being over 2 weeks now, and they still aren't home as far as I know.

Is British Airways an option?
