8th sub earns the "ace" status: USN SS S-7 first catches IJN PC Ch08 @ Tokyo (Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage) then AK Saiko Maru (Shell hits 3, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage) - 4th and 5th hits.

Second hit for USN SS R-14: AK Ina Maru @ Eniwetok (Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage).

USN SS R-15 catches ML Yenoshima Maru @ Kwajalein (Torpedo hits 1, on fire).

1st Rgt of Hawaiian Division lands at Mili and captures it.

USN DM Ludlow sinks. 82nd USN casualty - mined @ Wotje.

IJN AK Ina Maru sinks. 85th IJN casualty - torpedoes @ Eniwetok.

IJN SS No. 39 gets 2 DCs @ Mili. Scratches.

USN subs around Kwajalein are formed in a circle 120 miles away from the island - IJN airforce does not need free experience.

IJN PC Ch08 sinks in Tokyo Harbor. 615 more tonns for USN SS S-7

September 4, 1922

IJN AO Noshima sinks in the Marshalls. 1100 more tonns for USN O-14, although R-16 had to help as well.

DDs are getting stacked at Mili; I got 60 of them there. 13 BB and 3 more DD on the way. If IJN wants to repeat the Jaluit adventure...

Submarines have formed a circle around Kwajalein (just out of range of IJA aviation) and are in process of creating another one around Eniwetok.

IJN SS UB-125 (O6) earns 2 more scratches from DCs at Mili.

It's fun to see that the leader is a Jap sub that sunk only 1 big TK!
Strange also to see that S-17 is only at ~9000 after sinking a BB (pre-dreadnought)... was she so "light"?

Now, think if this list could be accessible under "Top Aces list" button...!

It was a very small BB :) Only 286' long, coast defense class.

I'm still tweaking tonnages and lists of kills. Any scuttled ship, any ship sunk a week after being torpedoed throws it off... Right now this is 90% accuracy at best.

USN BB Nebraska hit a Japanese mine at Mili and then gets a torpedo from SS UB-125 (O6). As of 2 days later flt started to decrease, so ship is going to be ok... after Christmas.

IJN DD Isokaze eats a fish from USN R-22 near Kwajalein and becomes IJN's 88th casualty (to USN's 84).

September 7, 1922

IJN DD Kagero eats a fish from USN R-22 near Kwajalein and becomes IJN's 89th casualty.

September 8, 1922

USN SS R-16 and DD Thatcher hit Japanese mines at Mili.

IJN CL Tatsuta, a Tenryu-class cruiser capsizes, trying to escape to Truk. IJN's 90th casualty and IJN's 4th cruiser loss. It's the only IJN's casualty of Battle of Jaluit.

Its sinking answers an important question as to where the main IJN forces are located. This explains why Jaluit had been hit much more than Mili.

IJN DD Kaki stumbles across an American mine at Jaluit and sinks immediately. IJN's 91st casualty.

Somehow IJN just won't leave Jaluit alone. Maybe because it's the third level 3 port in Marshalls, hidden behind the rest of the islands and closest to Truk?

An IJN BB is spotted next to Mili. 63 DD and 11 BB stacked at Mili say: Come on over =)

Calm.

USN is struggling to move engineers from Johnston to Midway and from Baker to Mili; at least half of airforce is en route to somewhere. Add that on top of constant fuel shortages, and lack of grand battles is self-explanatory.

The first 2 AKs of Asiatic Fleet arrive in Baker; somehow these 11-knot units have covered twice the distance covered by their 10-knot counterparts, still stuck in Guinea.

AS Rainbow and BB Nebraska are battling flotation damages; the future is looking grim for both.

Jaluit is bombarded twice, revealing a presence of 1-2 base force-type units.

Calm.

Baker island based is abandoned altogether in favor of shortening supply lines.

Fuel crisis is forcing to suspend all operations other than resupplying forward bases. 19,800 tonns of fuel is located on minor Hawaiian islands, reserves sitting untouched since the beginning of the war. That's 25 times more than in Pearl / Johnston / Baker / Mili combined. No invasions are likely for the next month or two.

The northern route is heavily debated to avoid well-planned IJA defenses; it will involve, if accepted, taking Etorofu, a level 3 port in the Kurile islands and 2 other level 4-5 ports in the region. Used as a submarine base, it may potentially disrupt the flow of supplies from China.

IJN subs continue to appear near Johnston, earning US Army aviation precious experience. USN does not return the favor, quarantining Eniwetok, Kwajalein and soon Truk at a 120-mile mark.

Battleships (13) are pulled back to Johnston for minor refits and regrouping as Nevada, Pennsylvania and 3 other BBs are waiting for them there. South Carolina and Michigan are still under repairs in San Diego.

Crew of BB Nebraska is battling flotation damage, as does crew of AS Rainbow; the future fate of either ship is still unknown.

IJN ML Yento Maru catches a fish from USN SS R-6 northwest of Eniwetok (the corridor at work).

2 IJN subs are shelled with multiple DCs with little effect.

IJN ML Yenoshima Maru capsizes, 4th ML lost of 11 that IJN has, an old hit from USN SS R-15. 92nd IJN casualty.It was en route to Truk, with, upon its increase in size to 8, appears to be main IJN repair base in the region.

September 20, 1922

The second battle of Jaluit.

The night before my submarines, covering most of Marshalls, spotted a "CA CA" task force en route to Jaluit. All 7 DD squads on hand were scrambled and made an overnight dash from Mili...

A sad day for USN.

In a rare feat IJN combined 10 DDs in the same TF and sends them to Jaluit. They skirmish one of USN DD squads, sinking one DD and damaging another to the point of scuttling. Six other USN DD squads fail to engage altogether, and Japanese get away.

DD Buchanan gets a torpedo from IJN SS No. 8, and the sub receives a direct hit by a DC in return.

DD Mackenzie scuttled due to 94 flotation damage.

Daily totals: USN lost 3, IJN - 0...

IJN DD Kaya gets maimed on a US minefield at Jaluit and SS No. 41 received 2 direct hits by DCs at Mili, but both are able to run away.

USN DD Buchanan, torpedoed the night before, and AS Rainbow, the backbone behind summer submarine warfare, are both scuttled due to extremely high flotation damage.

September 23, 1922

IJN SS UB-125 (O6) sinks USN DD Taylor.

Several patrol squads are converted from Curtiss airplanes to Blimps to achieve longer range.

Flotation damage on BB Nebraska reaches 83.

The future is looking grim.

USN SS S-9 sinks 5000-tonn freighter Nana Maru and it is finally an American submarine at the top of ace list.

USN SS R-6 torpedoes AK Sinko Maru, but it runs off.

DD Badger sinks, an old surface battle casualty.

Flotation damage on BB Nebraska reaches 87 and it's 360 miles off Johnston island, a level 3 port with an AR vessel.

No new actions; BB Nebraska had to be scuttled since its flotation damage reached 97... just 240 miles off Johnston island. 92nd USN warship loss and its first capital ship loss.

IJN SS No. 40 gets scratches at Johnston.

US Army planes made 2 attacks on that submarine; experience is flowing. Eventually they are bound to score hits.

And soon, kills.

IJN is using Ponape as a waypoint; every day last week USN subs engaged something there, although without success due to heavy ASW escorts.

Two assault TFs - 4BB 4DD - departed Johnston to sail around Marshalls. One more is scheduled to join them.

All safely out of reach of IJN aircraft. The next experience *those* units are going to get is running for their life as battleships pound them to dust =)

Calm.

2 Assault TFs of 4BB 4DD are about to be inserted between Eni and Kwaj, as that route is full of IJN ships sneaking left and right. It's time my capital ships earned their pay.

Transport TF is a day away from Mili; it has 2 CD units onboard just in case IJN ever feels brave enough to bombard the island. Knowing my opponent, it's likely.

Aircraft wing at Mili is getting experience on an hourly basis from spotting subs - the top pilot is already at 73.

First three auxiliary cruisers are ordered at Mare Island, to be completed 4/1/1923. These ships may become a dire necessity later in the game with all my destroyer losses. Sadly, there are only so many I can order; the bulk of USN transport fleet enters the game on 1/13/1923 and by then I can't afford to wait 180 more days.

Then again I may be desperate enough to go for it.
