Playing against the French (1940) yesterday, I almost had a heart attack. On a meeting engagement, half their formations were tanks, mostly S-35's. HALF. I'm used to playing against the British and Russians where most of their formations are infantry, and now I get to the French, which historically spread out their tanks, and they come at me with +35 tank plattons plus their infantry compliment???? Is there something to be done about this? Frank V.

Sometimes the French did mass tanks; at Abbeville they attacked on a 10 km-wide front with 187 of them - 32 B1-bis - 104 R-35 - 40 H39 - 11 AMD P178

You get to fight infantry? You lucky SOB! Last night had two abortive attempts to start a campaign as the Germans where the Russians and British showed up with at least 200 tanks and a vast horde of infantry. I have no idea how you're supposed to win these. I had maybe 35-40 tanks, some infantry, and 4 88's. I got totally swamped. The Soviets were a solid red line at least 2 units thick from top to bottom on a large (not huge) map. Even at 2 percent, everything ended up dead fairly quickly from opfire.

Alas and alack, the AIP gets to pick whatever forces it wants to from those available regardless of historical, doctrinal, production, etc. limitations. Then again the human player has the same freedom. I can have many 88's if I want to despite the fact that they were generally not found at the tank/inf battalion level. ------------------ An old soldier but not yet a faded one. OK, maybe just a bit faded.
