Are shadows turned down and instant replays tuned off?

Hi bjm111

Press F11 to change the frame rate. Because of your slow machine your frame rate should between 18 to 25. Faster machines are set at 32.

Hope that helps.

Hi bjm111,

What is your video resolusion when you play in the game? You might need to change your video resolusion to 800x600.

Can you tell me in point form what you did so that I can see where the problem is?

bjm11,

Please post a DxDiag file for us, per the instructions at the top of this forum. Also, please try this experiment:

800 x 600 x 16 in-game resolution
Low Player Detail
No Shadows
Low Res Stadium

Then use the F11 key and get a rough average of your frame rate _during play execution_. Please let me know what that number is.

Regards,

- Erik

bjm111,

Thanks for posting those.

The Celeron 2GHz is probably about equivalent to a 1.2 GHz full strength processor and the GeForce FX5500 is a very low end 128MB graphics card, so that's why we're seeing any frame rate issues at all, but I'm still surprised they're not higher with those settings.

When you say that it starts at 21-22 and goes up to 30 - can you confirm for me, when a play is actually running (players moving around, tackling, etc.) with the low settings I posted are you at 21-22 or 30 most of the time? The frame rate can vary outside of play execution, but we keep it capped during the plays themselves and you want to be at 25+ fps there if possible.

Do you have any settings forced in your driver as far as Anti-Aliasing or Anisotropic Filtering (in other words, not set to Application Control in the display driver settings)?

Can you give me more info on your other game settings? In other words, what League and Rules are you using? What controller are you using? Are you in Coaching or Arcade mode?

Can you try unplugging all peripherals other than your keyboard and mouse to see if that helps? We've seen some occasional odd interactions from peripheral drivers, so any additional USB or other devices than the keyboard and mouse should be unplugged and re-check the game with those temporarily disconnected.

Regards,

- Erik

My frame rate is 22 at beginning of a play. I threw a pass for a touchdown in arena play at the end of play it jumped up to 30 then back to 22 to begin the next play. my application is set to application control and image setting is set for quaility with the options of high quailty to high preformance.

bjm111,

Try resetting your display driver to default settings, or if you can, create a profile for the M-F executable that sets it to default or low quality settings.

Did you try running without the additional USB and other peripherals as a test to see if any of those were causing a problem?

I'm still surprised based on your specs that you're having issues getting to 25 fos, so I'm assuming that either there's something going on that's dragging performance down in the system or the settings are causing an issue. For your reference, with the super-low settings I posted for you, I can get a significantly weaker machine up to 25fps.

Try googling a program called EndItAll. It helps shutdown other background processes, in case something else is stealing CPU cycles or keeping your hard drive active during play. Running that before M-F can ensure a clean environment for the game.

We can also try to uninstall your display drivers and run a program called Driver Cleaner Pro to make sure that no old driver remnants are interfering, before reinstalling the latest. That has helped some other customers with performance issues on other titles of ours in the past.

Ok Erik I play a game on High detail level and at 1024 x 768 x 32 and got the same frame rate on the high settings if not it even seemed higher kickoff started at 26 frame rate. Beginning of play started at 9 for a second then jump up to 23, mid play (passing) jumped up to60. Hope this helps.

bjm111,

I'm looking for more answers, your most recent results really make no sense - better performance at higher settings? I have to ask David if the game is going anything differently at the various performance settings in terms of using hardware vs. software.

Regards,

- Erik

Actually, that is not unheard of as I know of a few other games that run better at higher settings. For example, Combat Flight Simulator 3 actually runs better at 1024x768 (or even higher) than 800x600. Why? Don't have a clue.
