ORIGINAL: AW1Steve What I've learned is to read the rules and do the homework. I keep forgeting that real life doesn't always apply. In this scenario , it really doesn't apply at all. I wipe out his Navy, his Air Force, slaughter his troops wholesale and.....lose? But if I let my planes, troops and ships be massacred , but manage to hold certain parcels of real estate by a certain date, then I win? "Ok Admiral Nimitz, you lost the 3ed fleet, the 7th fleet , 70,000 Marines and soldiers, but you took the Marianas Island by the 29th of August! Well Done!" Oh, I don't think so! Halsey loses some destroyers and planes in a typhoon because he doesn't want to abandon McArther (the way Fletcher abandonded Vandegrift) and the brass wants his scalp. How long do you think Nimitz would keep his job? As I said, I should have done my homework. Yes this is a major problem with the WitP short scenarios, but we can always start a full scale campaign.......
