Actually was a lot of fun.  I have a 2.5 year old, and it is very different watching everything through his eyes.

I learned I have a kid after my own heart...an adrenaline junkie so to speak.  They have a mini rollercoaster (yes, just like a steel tube coaster complete with tight turns, and a dropoff but without a loop) and he road that coaster TEN times...one right after the other.  There was no wait in line but even when we told him that we had to get off, he still wanted to stay on it and ride again.

He also LOVED the fireworks.  I can see spending some $$$ this 4th and putting on a show in our backyard.

Just think how much fun he will be at five . I'd still reasearch the Florida residents months , at half off , it's a great deal. And instead of staying at the kingdom, you might try my trick. Start by driving to the kingdom , pick a direction and watch the hotel signs. When you see a price you like, stop. It's amazing what great hotel deals you can get off season. And of course there are always on-line booking services. If you have a friend who is military (active or reserve) you can get bargain WDW passes through the ITT office (almost as good a deal as Florida residence month, but year round).

We are looking at the FL residents annual pass. It has restrictions on dates, but they are all busy times and HOT. No one that lives down here would go to WDW in the middle of the summer. Pure insanity.

We have been staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge the last few times we went. It is nice to just hop the bus when it is naptime for him (and ME!) and then get up and take it back to whatever park we want to do dinner at. We tried staying at the Pop Century on Disney property this last trip, and that lasted 1 night. Full size beds (NEED a queen since I like my spaec) and a noisy pool at 2AM made me upgrade to AKL the next morning. That was the only bad part of our trip.

The internet makes it easy to research the less busy times of the year and we are taking advantage of them. We watched the fireworks at Disney from some restaraunt seats we got about 10 minutes before the fireworks began...about 15 yards off of Mainstreet. The crowds were just not there! Found out the kid likes fireworks as much as he likes roller coasters. It is going to be fun watching him grow up!

Apparently they made some major changes in the Florida residence program since I last lived there (3 years ago). It used to be that two months a years (one summer and one winter) FL residents could just show their drivers licences and get 50% off admissions. The annual admission card was great if you were there a lot. We actually would use ours at one point just to go to dinner at EPCOT (feel like German food-hm...) and Christmas shopping , even if we didn't feel up to touring the park.
