Speaking as an Englishman abroad (I live in Scotland) I think it only fair to point out that the world we ruled was split into
(A) British people, and (B) People who made jolly good servants with a bit of training once the smoke had dissipated from the final siege.

... as for what the people from group (B) called the place they lived in we weren't overly concerned - we'd just conquered it, and while we were busy plundering it we generally renamed it after some upstanding member of the hierarchy.

We're also still convinced the place was better off when we ruled it, as proof we'll offer the incomprehensible names chosen after independence instead of the simple 'SmytheLand' we'd used while in charge.
