Playing as a benevolent Napoleon right now (diffculty normal against A.I.) I decided to start slow, always leaving one of the Grand Armies in France for selfdefence only, moving the other around to keep some aggressive upstarts in check and trying to gain some ground mainly by diplomatic action and peace treaties, after I've beaten some heads bloody. Well I decided to support the cause of the freedom loving Irish people then, comvinced them of an insurrection and succeded. As I was still short on money I subsided them only for 50 three times in a row and then waited what would gonna happen. In another game I had insurrected Portugal which then joined my ally Spain, which was just what I had planned. But what did the Irish do instead? After some more rounds the invite the Brits for a protectorate. I sat there laughing, having always thought the Irish stubborn, not stupid... Ok, it had been Southern Ireland acting that way. Actually liking the idea, right now I'm trying same thing in the north.
