V 1.8. When i divide japanese divisions and brigades in china the B and C regiments get a colonel as leader but the A regiment which should retain the units original leader get a allied ship captain or squadron leader the next turn. Unfortunatly i changed them all in anger before i saved.
And also when i try to change one of the crappy colonels in charge of an regiment i can only choose ltG, mjG or G as new leader. Should I not be able to pick new colonels? And yes i had plenty of political points.

What gives?

Was this new start or upgraded game ? Would have to have save to investigate.

This was a new PBEM game under 1.8 and niks mod 5.02. Although i did the partial uppdate over my old 1.6 not the complete all patches included thing. If I see it again i will send you a save.

Ran some tests.

Divided a pile of units on both sides ... then recombined several .. then divided some more ... no issues seen .. then divided units until all slots were filled (there are 500 slots for divided units so a maximum of 166 divisions or 250 brigades can divide ) hit the max ... still no problems ... recombined a bunch .. then divided back to the max again, still no problems (other than I don't see why russian units should be dividable prior to their activation - they are - so in lunacy game - first allied player action is go divide all Soviet units to try to max out the divide slots (using Chinese as well) and then Allied player can control ability to divide (he can recombine a Soviet Unit each time he wants to divide one of his - but - I guess that is why we call them "lunacy" games ! )

But anyway was unable to reproduce the problem you describe, so if you see a recurrance I'd like the save from the turn BEFORE you see the problem (i.e. don't see problem then save - see problem then send me current save - then do new save )
