I'm curious how translate aircraft cargo capacity into AP capacity? For example 12 planes with 9900 capacity each, how many troops will they transport? Does the range matters for air transport?

Air transports are wierd. They do not behave in a sophisticated way.
They NEVER can overload (like real planes do) nor extend range by lower loads and extra planes (again SOP IRL). Instead you sort of have the best of all worlds: you carry your full load the full range - always - every time - but never any extra for a short range mission. The other thing is that the game does not really move air assault units by weight - it does it by troops. And there is some simple rule - 12 per plane? - whatever it is - that is all you ever really get. So I was told...
