Is there a way to keep the ballclubs accurate every year? ex. I just finished the 1950 season, now in 51 Mantle is a St. Louis Brown and Willie Mays is a Senator. I did check the no trades option, but with free agents ( which didn't exist back than ) and the amateur draft, the teams are not what I remember. Great game Shawn, the improvements over a very good 05 Pure Sim is outstanding. With the depth now 07 is very addictive. Thanks for any info.

Start in Sandbox mode and import all the teams you want to use. Set your roster size at 35. You still need to check the No Trades button. YOU will decide the trades.

Make your league a Multiplayer league (you'll understand why in a minute). Unless you actually WANT to do a multiplayer league, leave the FTP box unchecked.

On one of your screens when you start an association, you can make ALL your teams human-controlled. You must do this in order to run the assn the way you want.

Multiplayer leagues must use financials (??? I don't know why). When you import your teams, they will all be signed to 5-year contracts. I will change their contract remaining years so that they never become free agents unless they are released.

While the association configuration DOES have financials and free agency, having all teams human-controlled gives YOU the power over contracts, through the "Edit" button on each player's card.

I started a 1969 American League Assn. I used the transactions link at baseball-reference.com to keep track of every team's trades and in-season signings. Just go to the team's page (such as 1969 California Angels). They will show you everything you need to keep up historically.

Use the trade function in the PS2007 program to make any trades involving an actual swap of players. For "cash" trades, you need to go into the player card, use the "edit" button, and put him on his new team. For in-season pick-ups, use the "sign player" on the team's "modify rosters" page.

If you see any trades AFTER August 1st, you'll need to use the "edit" function on the players cards to get them where they need to be.

I'm in the playoffs and just finished Game One of the first ALCS. Oakland beat Boston at Fenway 5-0, behind a 2-hit SHO by Catfish Hunter, who carried a no-hitter into the 7th. The A's got all 5 of their runs off Ray Culp in the 3rd, capped by a Sal Bando grand slam over the Green Monster.

Have fun and I hope I didn't you or anyone else out there.

Thank You for your very insightful reply. Due to my advanced age ( 50 ) I don't think I could master all the information you've provided me with. I will do some of what you suggested, and tailor my replay. Thanks

You can play without free agency... just remove the checkmark from "Use Finances/Salaries/Free agency" when you create your association.
