I am ready to make the final step for the big US Navy offensive in Pacific (PBEM June 43)
My opponent is clearly waiting for me, and has his KB intact with all its teeth.

I look for having the max aerial support, as too far away from any base to have LBA covering my TFs.
My question is regarding CVE potential use.
Some CVE are filled with squadrons scheduled for resplishnement : V*R squadrons.
They cannot be used for front line action because overloaded regarding their capacity (28/48).
My idea is to transfer some of the VTR/VBR squadron on a base and keep the VFR squadron onboard to be used for CAP…
Capacity should be then (28/24) and then it should works… It should…
Have ever someone tried such thing before, and do you have any recommendation…

It won't work. The VFR squadrons aren't really squadrons, but wings. If you look at their experience, you'll see that it's crap; they're not meant for frontline use. Besides, if you transfer VR-type squadrons off, all sorts of crazy things are going to happen, and they'll never work correctly again. Don't do it.

True that !

*Any* transfer of CV/CVE air groups to land bases can lead to very unpleasant and unexpected troubles. Especially with those VR-units. Only time I do that is when carrier is sinking.

I have not had too much trouble with moving carrier based units around, at least the non replacement squadrons. They settle down eventually if something weird happens.

Ok guys,
Seems you all agree on not doing such thing with these CVE.
I ll use then only ‘regular’ CVE to protect my landing TF….

On a separate note, and talking about weird squadron modification, I have something strange with a respawned CV.
Saratoga sunk some months ago and she s now back in SF.
When she sank, she went down with a whole VT squadron ( not a fragment of it, as I had no time to transfer it to a land base before the dramatic event)
Now, the VT squadron is back with the Saratoga, but with an effective number of 54 aircrafts….
I am not complaining, as I d appreciate to have a CV with 54 TBF/M and 36 Hellcat, but I fear that just before the Great Battle this VT squadron will shrink into a much smaller force, or won’t even fly….

Where are your dive bombers for Sara? Place them back on the carrier and it will probabaly revert to the correct numbers for all the squadron's

No, it most likely won't. Sounds like the resize bug to me.

The resize bug? Is that the one that green and hairy and sometimes two stories tall?
