Hi guys.

OK, it is the first week of Jan 43 in my game and Boomerang IIs are now past the RD stage and should be available. Trouble is, there are 0 replacement and rate values for these aircraft and no factories. What is the deal here? What do we do to get these in production (Allies don't control production but can't switch either...I tried switching the Wirraway plant...not possible)?

Does this get filed under the OOPS heading?

Am I missing something? I've never played into 43 before so have I made a booboo d'obvious? (can't stand AI).

Or is there a scenario design issue. That would suck.

No restart, no way! I don't mind Wirraways for ground attack, but it would suck if I played 13 months PBEM and was denied a goodie (like the art profiles and tops), especially when some of my Wirraway squadrons are better on average experience than Adolf Galland's JG 44 Experten and could upgrade to a much more useful A2A aircraft like the Boomer.

That would be the oops, another senario error thing.

Factory Upgrades Ron. Not sure exactly what scenario version you are playing but Wirraways upgrade to Boomerangs and Wirraway factories upgrade to Boomerang factories.

Is this automatic? When will it happen? All the types are in the "green" when one looks at the aircraft production screen. Man...I tested the game but we never got past the first few months because of endless issues. I could not possibly know any of this. Ask the current guys why so much stuff remains a mystery.

I'm playing a stock scenario 15 as the Allies, have reached January 1943 (currently 1/4/43) and the Wirraway factory in Melbourne is not upgrading to Boomerang II. So this isn't just a CHS problem.

This doesn't sound good. But, when I was playing PzB, I had Boomarang IIs available. That was a 1.5 game( started with 1.3 I think ).

My experience is that the factories don't always convert right away.  Playing as Japan, stock scenario 15, I don't think I ever saw the little (4 factor?) factory in Nagasaki or whatever convert in January, it always was some arbitrary amount later.  That's the only one I've noticed not autoconverting right away, though.

What about other factory upgrades Ron? Have your other factories converted to the proper models? Or is this pretty much across the board. If other factories did convert, how quickly did they convert? Did they all convert on time or did some of them have a lag between the conversion date listed and the actual in game conversion?

Hi,

I'm going to keep hammering away at this. Having these types of problems with the game's database causes too many games to, in my opinion, become unplayable due to corrupted data which could easily easily easily easily easily be repaired if only we had an in-game editor. You get so deep into a game with so much time and effort expended only to find that there is an error that makes you wonder if it is worth continuing....if it would not just be better to get into the database/scenerio editor, fix the problem, and restart.......until it happens all over again. That's what I have done time and time and many times to date. I honestly don't feel that I can ever complete a game unless I can somehow force myself to live with the errors. And THAT is something that neither I or anyone else should have to do.

Without the ability to fix these errors the greatest wargame ever made simply becomes an issue in frustration. Let us have the capability to correct the original database errors and the errors that are caused by the code when the game is played.

I can't vouch for CHS as I usually play stock. But I can agree with Erstad that the upgrades don't happen straight away, but they do happen.

If you have Wirraway factories and the Database says Wirraways upgrade to Boomers (not just the squadrons) then they will change. Eventually

So I just have to wait and see. No prob...Wirraways will do for awhile yet. I'm one of the few who don't seem to mind these Harvards/Texans/Wirraways.

In my stock game, the factory finally did change from Wirraways to Boomerangs. On Jan 28.

This is normal, it happens with Japanese factories too.

(low chanting)
In the bad bad lands of Australia many years ago
The Aborigine tribes were meeting, having a big pow-wow
(chanting)
(low voice): We've got a lot of trouble, Chief, on account of your son Mac!
(midrange voice): My boy Mac, what's wrong with him?
(high-pitched voice, young prince): My boomerang won't come back!
(low voices): Your boomerang won't come back
(prince): My boomerang won't come back
My boomerang won't come back
I've waved the thing all over the place
Practiced till I was black in the face
I'm a big disgrace t' the Aborigine race
My boomerang won't back
I want a kangaroo (yeah yeah)
Make kangatoo stew (yea yeah)
But I'm a big disgrace t' the Aborigine race
My boomerang won't back

They banished him from the tribes' lair & sent him on his way
He had a hapless boomerang, so here he could not stay
(shrieks of animals)
(prince): This is nice, isn't it? Getting banished at my time in life. What a way to
spend an evening. Sittin' on a rock in the middle of the desert with me boomerang in me
hand. I should very likely get bushwhacked. (animal shriek) (prince): Get out of here,
nasty bushwhackin' animal! Think I'll make a nice cup of tea. (boing boing boing)
(prince): Good gracious! There goes a kangaroo! I must have practice with me boomerang.
Hey, right behind the left elbow, then slowly back... (kangaroo): If you throw that thing
at me, I'll jump right on your head! (laughs) (prince): Ain't it marvelous! In a land
full of kangaroos I might not get that one!

For 3 long months he sat there, or maybe it was 4
Then an old old man in a kangaroo skin came a-knockin' at his door
(old man): I'm the local with doctor, son. They call me Joe Joseph Black.
Now tell me, what's your trouble, boy?
(prince): My boomerang won't come back!
(old man): Your boomerang won't come back
(prince): My boomerang won't come back
My boomerang won't come back
I've waved the thing all over the place
Practiced till I was black in the face
I'm a big disgrace t' the Aborigine race
My boomerang won't back
(old man): Don't worry, boy, I know the trick & to you I'm gonna show it
If you want your boomerang to come back, well, first you've got to throw it!
(prince): Oh yes, never thought of that. Daddy will be pleased. Must have a girl...
(old man): Excuse me. Now then, slowly back...& throw! (sound of boomerang flying)

(old man): Oh my God! Avit the flying doctah! He-he-he-he!
(prince): Can you do farther eat?
(old man): Don't talk to me about first taste boy; you owe me 14 chickens for teaching
you to throw the boomerang; first things first. (prince): Yes, I know that, but I mean, I
think, on this occasion, you know ...& fade
