All Flush deck destroyers that converted to APD's historically, upgrade in game. They simply need to be disbanded in a port with a repair shipyard in the month (or anytime afterwards) the conversion is available. I added this ability way back in version 1.2 or so... (such a long, long time ago...)

from memory I might have forgot 1 or 2 but this is close.

10/42 upgrade of Waters, Talbot and Dent
11/42 upgrade of Sands
12/42 upgrade of Brooks and Humphreys
01/43 upgrade of Schley, Ward, and Gilmer
02/43 upgrade of Crosby, Kilty
04/43 upgrade of Kane
05/44 upgrade of Rathburne

We did not add the DD to DMS conversions because DD's already can sweep mines but it could be done in editor if you wanted to, You modders can simply look at how I did the DD/APD conversions and do the same for DD/DMS.

I was hoping for a little more flexibility than this. It would be nice to choose the conversions I needed based on the situation and the availible ships.

Isn't it hard coded in the database that all sunk US Destroyers come back as Fletcher Class?

Maybe that was true with Pacwar then. It's been a few years since I last looked at the witp manual.

Wow, I guess it kind of sneaks up on you

Guess that makes me an Allied-Bottomless-Pool-of-Ships fanboy.
