Don't waste the money, Speedy. I'm done. I don't know why I waste my time rebutting his "strawman" arguments. I must have a masochistic streak in me or something.

Chez

Probably cuz you still believe in HI (Human intelligence that is). Well I dont. Not only because of the fruitcake-whose-name-we-should-not-speak-out, but cuz of my own coutrymen too who have elected commies twice in a row. In free elections, jut cuz the media told them so. So cheer up Chez. Just ignore him. (You know little green dot, at the bottom, beside the buddy button, or even without it). You learn something even at your age. Given the fact that I was born when you started you career in the navy I presume that you are older than me. No pun intended..

Ad hominem is to the man, or at the man, could be towards the man, but is probably a juridical expression.

If you know how to use a dictionary, you can look up "retaliation" after you've finished looking up "ad hominem." You earned every bit of that.

Interesting disucssion. I am not an aeronautical engineer..but I play one on the web.

Perhaps not a good idea to step into the middle of a duel..but I have to say mdiehl seems to be right on the aerodynamic argument.

Good thing that you have learned some selfcontrol over the time. (Cultural) racism is not a nice thing. You can thank your good fortune that I am not in a mood to fight today.

You know from the country with Stalin an' Hitler in it.

Not to seem unappreciative guys but let's let the thread cool off. I've offered an olive branch @ Chez by PM. Let's just see where that goes.

Yeah and how can I stop it without getting it started ad hominem? Unlike you I never wrote in a negative manner about your country. Only about you.

Damned I always feel sorry later when I am being generous. Dont worry mdiehl wont happen again. Maybe I should be thankful to you for teaching me an important lesson about fanatism, imperial arrogance, and dumbness coming from partial or wrongly digested information. You know what : thank you. I have learned the lesson.

But this time I wont turn the ignore on. Sooner or later I will capture some of your highly non-PC, arrogant, rassist posts. Hopefully it will finally convince the admins to keep you out once and for all. And that will end your little 'crusade' here terminally.

Hasta la vista!

Oh P-lease,

Maybe the RACIST threat works on Politically Correct Europe where you can actually be improsined for upsetting people with your opinions - but this isn't Europe, and we don't have official thought control yet.

So cool it, and let the boys debate.

I dont see any debate going on, only a fruitcake vs rest of the world windmill fight.

Oh yes, and if you know a better word for a person who discriminates the place you live in, every way possible (dirthole, Hitler's and Stalin"s servant and stuff) other than racist please let me know. It is way more than unpoliteness.

The science fiction writer Larry Niven once wrote, of his neo-apocalyptic vision of "organlegging," that if it ever came to pass he'd either be hailed as a dark visionary or vilified as the inventor of the idea.

I wonder if George Orwell were alive he'd read Ursa's bullshit and weep at having written about Doublespeak, or if he'd just shrug it off and say "It was bound to happen sooner or later."

Ursa, it takes a Big Brave Perfect Man to transform the discourse of political criticism into an effort to suppress speech. I salute you. May you reap what you sew. I have a feeling you will.

If the commies could not intimidate me what makes you think you will be succesful, Clockwork Orange? Man you have no idea what is it like when speech is suppressed. BUT you are about to find out.

According to Napoleon only justice hurts and you scream like one in pain! Sooner or later all masks fall off, and I have a feeling you cant keep up yours for much longer. Best defence is attack we all know that, but if you are such a highly PC, well respected, well aducated ad hominem forum member why did you completely edit your little essay about my countries sins, hm? I wonder what were your intentions with it? To cover your "little" amok running with a mixture of insults and outright racism? Maybe you were a naughty boy who tried to support his

Freedom of speech does not mean you can hurt other people's feelings without limits. Yes I come from a small country, yes terrible things happened here under the nazis and the commies. Being only 34 I have not supported any of them. But If you think that I am a lesser person than you because of that, well do I need to continue?

Let's be clear. I have no reason to think all Hungarians are as fanatically pro-totalitarian as yourself. History records as established fact that Hungary fought first for the Nazis and then for the Stalinists. I think that at least gives me some leeway to speculate that when YOU are accusing ME of hailing from a nation given to dogmatism, as you have frequently done, you stand on thin ice. While such speculation about ethnocentrism has not merits for judging the validity of arguments, to the degree that they raise any eyebrows at all, your history of fawning admiration for Axis equipment, in these fora, and your nation of origin, certainly raises a few eyebrows.

Thank you mdiehl. You dont need to say more. Yes MY nation of origin definitely defines my fawning admiration towards whatever. IF THAT IS NOT RACISM THEN WHAT IS? WHAT COMES NEXT? I MUST BOW TO WHATEVER YOU SAY CUZ I AINT NO WHITE ANGLOSAXON PROTESTANT? TELL YOUR BUDDIES AT THE KKK THAT THEY ARE HISTORY! ALONG WITH YOU I HOPE!

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

quote:

I have no idea whether or not Napoleon ever said "justice hurts." It may be comforting to you to feel that I am screaming in pain. I'm not, but from a Totalitarian like yourself, at least selling the propaganda means you feel as though you are contributing.
The reason why I edited my post is that there comes a time when being seen speaking to an idiot like you makes one feel unclean. I wasn't going to reply at all, but since you brought it up, there it is. Ignoring you now for reasons as stipulated.

That is getting serious. First I wanted to make a joke of it saying next step will be that you call Heaven's Wrath on me or something, but I stand speechless. I have no words to such fanatism. Makes you feel unclean? Have you made your ritual bath then? And sacrified a goat or what? Its the 21st century wake up!

Too late a$$hole! You wont get awy with this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!4

I looked back over the thread, and all I see is Chez and Mdiehl debating, getting a little heated, Speedy says "how long is this going to last"...Terminus says here we go again - and the next thing you know - your totally upset.

Learn to relax dude.

Besides - the aerial torpedo thread was interesting.

No guys, if you go back and read the thread you will find Chez, Mdiehl, Spence, and Captain Mandrake debating -
and then "others" start insulting Mdiehl as being a waste of time...and then he replies - and then the insults really start flying.

Mdiehl and Chez have been debating many topics for a long time and have gotten competative. The people who I see starting the insulting are not Mdiehl.

Mdiehl debates well and tenaciously, if you can't compete with him and stay cool - then don't start the name calling.

It's right there for everyone to read and see for themselves....

Ok, guys. This has gotten out of hand. Let's cool it. It's one thing to debate with passion, its quite another to do so with hatred.

Ad hominem attacks are bad enough. Attacks directed towards someone's ethnicity, race, nationality or any other identifying characteristic is way out of line and have no place in this forum. People who engage in this type of behaviour deserve no respect whatsoever.

I've conditionally accepted mdiehl's olive branch. But as I told him, my guns will remain trained and loaded and I will not back down from his insulting behaviour towards me or others.

Chez

Read my statement above Chez, the insults started diredcted at Mdiehl

When you start in by saying:
quote:

Sheesh. Chez you know it isn't worth arguing. Save your energy and fingers

Followed by

quote:

Dont waste your time. Mdiehl has proven many times, that he is incapable for even the slightest change of his illusions. No matter how hard you argue, no matter whom you quote, no matter how rude you are. It his HOLY Mission to get rid of the AXIS propaganda which has 'infected these forums'. You can't argue with fanatics.

The insults start flying and ALL is fair.

In other words, don't pull the bulls tail and complain when you get gored.

EDIT: And furthermore, I don't know Mdiehl from Adam, but if he's "my buddy" that's fine with me.

I'm assuming that your last post was NOT directed at me. Is that correct?

Regardless, there is a huge difference between Ursa Major showing disdain for someone and the type of behaviour mdiehl exhibited. Its kind of like hauling out the shotgun because some hit you with a rubberband.

No Chez, my last post was not directed at you. You and Mdiehl having been dueling for some time.
But insults are insults, and tempers get aroused, and it's all unnecessary - just don't start insulting people, that's not tough to do.

Personally, I don't care if I'm called a Yankee Imperialist (there's some truth to that these days...not me personally) or a Honky KKK boy , whatever. Don't mean **** to me.

Now, if someone for some reason wants satisfaction...I'm in LA, I'm not tough to get a hold of. My choice of weapons is sabres (I'm actually good with one)...

The second one is me, I dont feel ashamed for it. Yes I was bullying him, and yes I react sensitibvely to his posts about me, but hey I was called a dirthole dweller right after I gave voice to my disagreement, some six months ago. I was not complaining, I was disgusted. Weel since I am not a native speaker I try not to use slang since I dont really know its side effects (e.g calling someone a yanqui), but as I already said his behaviour IS of soviet officers' and IS of imperial arrogance. As you probably see from my other posts it is NOT my habit to insult people, but I preserve my right of selfdefence. Since I unfortunately live in the Wild East it is usually less mannered, than others'. You can check EiA forums too. Yes I am rude, yes I am insulting, but only towards fanatics, and people who claim to be thinkin, but not acting like it. I have had my share of warnings from the admins, but NEVER went as far as insulting a whole community cuz of one's behaviour.

quote:

Certain individuals' posts to this thread (both before and after editing) are being studied with a view toward appropriate action, which will be forthcoming.

In the mean time, it is recommended that further posts to this thread be on a BEST BEHAVIOR basis, else an ertwihile innocent be caught up in the riot suppression activities!

[BTW note the plural possessive form of the word individual, which is intended]
