Easy for me -- the Dodgers and their incredible pitching prowess for so many years, which reached an apogee in the mid 1960s. Strong pitching, good defense, contact hitting and speed on the bases -- that's the kind of team I try to design. That kind of team could've gained much success in Forbes Field back in the 50s.

I generally mold my teams after the early 80s Cardinals teams, tons of speed and defense. I've tried out all kinds of different types though, it just depends what's in the pipeline. I started one franchise on this template, but then I had one guy in the minors who really sprouted into a very good power hitter.

The year after I brought him up, I had a bunch of free agents that I let go, and started going to more of a power/pitching team. Within three years, I had completely changed my team, basically all based on that one guy. I even brought the fences in a bit for him. :) It's fun to try transitioning from one type of team to another and still stay competative.

I find myself falling into the same trap the Red Sox made themselves for years...

Big powerful righty sluggers(and SLOW)  but I try to balance it out with top tier pitching(Ryan ,Clemens, Carlton ,Gibson
Results... ehh  not so much.

Do I even need to say it? I'll take the Yankees from '61, 2000 or maybe '18.

Hey, A-Rod is having a slow year (at least for him), but he belted 2 long balls yesterday so maybe he's coming out of it. Sure do appreciate y'all letting us have Damon though!

oakland. low budget but still successful. finding young players that everyone else has missed, and bamboozling the rich teams in trades.

I bleed blue and red, and cry blue and red tears....Cubs of the 30's, and early to mid 80's.  they tend to fare better in PS than in SOM though!!  Dodgers of the 60's and Big Red Machine are big in my opinion as well!

Dodgers, like said before, or the mid-60's to early 80's O's (anyday).

For me it would be the early-80s Cardinals teams and the early-80s Royals teams. All that running, great range on defense...and a big old ballpark to keep the opponent's long balls in the yard.

I'd have to have an Ozzie Smith though. You all can have your hitting shortstops...he's the ultimate shortstop in my view.

The late 70's / early 80's Kansas City Royals (and make sure the stadium has artificial turf with deep power alleys).  Lot's of speed and great defense (like the 80's Cardinals, must be a Missouri thing).  Also, don't forget to include Don Denkinger as the first base umpire in all your games.
