I have found that the my team is built weirdly enough that the only way I can consistently win is to manage my bungling idiots myself. If I set the AI loose on them I get 5 game loosing streaks. I'm not complaining, but the AI just isn't creative as I am with my team, I really don't expect them to be either.

I've tried playing with the settings to make the AI manager behave more like me but it's no use. How do you guys get through a full season, play half sim half?

vr,
Rod

Depending on the association and if I feel like being a manager or GM I manage or sim.

Looks like am part of that club now also... Although it's a long season, looks like I'm going to have to adopt that practice too. Thanks goodness it doesn't take that long to manage a game. It's funny because once upon a time I didn't care for one pitch mode, now it's the best thing ever.

I manage every game. And I still get five game losing streaks! But for some reason I find losing games almost as fun as winning them. My record is now 18-16 in my league.

Ah, another convert to in-game managing. Cool.

However, after some games,  I also have some occcasional "sobbering" realizations, too.  "Why did I take out my starter so soon (*sob*)?"

I mange from time to time but make sure you click on players individually...you can set them up individually in addition to your team management.

Oh, yeah. And "why, oh why, did I use up all my pinch hitters now that the game has gone into extra innings?"

Some of my sobbering realizations become slobbering messes that are all my fault. Management hasn't fired me yet, though...

yep i feel like i get better results managing my team as well...it will be interesting to replay sim my team over the same year without managing and see how differently things turn out...

I manage them all unless it's an association where I'm simming the crapp out of it to gain history, but once that stops and I take over a team, it's manage, manage, manage.

With PS'05, I was a 'pure GM' - I used the AI manager exclusively. I definitely made use of the manager options, as well as making liberal use of the 'Player Usage' tab for each player. By locking batting order/position, 'never sub', 'favorite pinch hitter', and using all of the pitcher usage options, I was able to get the team to perform much better than the AI-managed opposition.

During the beta-test for PS'07, Shaun asked us to play-test one-pitch mode, and I got so hooked on it, I've kept playing that campaign; I'm about six seasons in, 162 games a year, so I'm closing in on my 1,000th game managed!

I still think of myself as a GM, not a manager... but...

So when you pure gm only, it go by what your manager tendencies and player tendencies you have set up.

Does it do the same thing when you just watch a game only? It follows your manager and player tendencies you have set up.
