I had offered a player 14K (deadball assn) for 2 years. Another team offers 17K for 1 year. I then go to the screen to change my offer and just for the hell of it I did not bump up the percentage of the offer but just offered 13,800 for 1 year. To my surprise the FA player accepted this. I then tested this with a bunch of players. If I offered more years and even more money they would not sign with me, but if I offer less and in a 1 year contract they sign with me. This happened 100% of the time I tried this...... I did this with the click on to increase. When I got the message box that said that the player was leaning towards another offer and would I like to increase my offer then I could not at this time make a low offer, but if I did it prior to the message I was able to get the player for much less than the original offer.

Example

FA1 - offered 8,830/4 yrs by me. 12,300/2 yrs by a CPU team. I then offered 8,600/1 year and got the player.....
FA2 - offered 14K/2 yrs by me. 17K/1 yr by cpu. I offer 13,800 and get the player.
FA3 - offered 6,520/4yrs by me. 9,800/2 yrs by CPU. I countered with 5,910 for 1 year and got the player...

these were just 3 examples I tried. I was able to duplicate this 12 times without failing a single time...... THIS IS NOT GOOD!!!

Time to resign some players before it's patched!

Found another issue with this.  I just went to the players I signed for less and noticed that if I hit the offer extension I can get them for even less.  I expected to have to give them a pay increase if I wanted to get them longer than the original offer of 1 year but because these players did not have high potential ratings the scale was sliding down instead of up for each year of extension.  This is strange.  Sign a player for one year at 8,600 then immediately offer him a 4 year extension at 7,400 and he accepts.  To help with the fix on this I did notice that all these players were established players with high ratings but low potential ratings.  I hope this helps squash this one out.  A real killer for me because I don't know if I can stay honest with this and may get my All-Star lineup for CHEAP!!!

Right.  Glad you mentioned this stuff in the second post.

Used to be that when a player signed an extension, he was done negotiating for that season.  You could not go back and tack on another year (if there was enough years left in the max contract range).

I have to think this is a bug as opposed to WAD.  It definitely needs attention.
