I have been having a heck of a time trying to get the mouse to select either the hex that I want to attack with arty, the arty that is on the plot screen, or the button to exit from the plot screen. I did note that there were some problems with this last year, but I haven't been able to find a solution. I don't know if I should roll back the driver for my X700, as it seems that the problems noted were with nvidia cards. Any help will be appreciated.
Bob

System Specs:
Intel D945PSN w/2.8gig Pentium D with latest BIOS

I have also had this problem since I bought my new computer in January this year. I have never found a solution. I think it must be down to the old girl showing her age!! After all SPWaW has been around for a while now.

The best I have managed to get is to reduce the delay by switching all the start up programs off via MSCONFIG and staying off the Internet while I play and my machine is unpretected. I also open the game up using a program called WinLauncherXP which helps to compensate for my dual AMD chip thus making the program think it is running on an older type chip. both these procedures seen to help somewhat.

My older computer is a 1.6gig AMD with 256mb of ram, with onboard video running the same os.  While it takes comparatively forever for the computer to boot up, it runs the game very well.  Find it hard to believe that a computer with 4x the ram and a separate video card would be taxing for my new one.

I agree. That's why it is so difficult to put your finger on the reason it happens. Oh well, as long as it works eventually.

Alby, forgot to mention that.  I have been trying to get this to work under the 8.403 version.

Yes Alby, you are correct. I have been a Star Trek fan since the original series.

Watch out for Sloan!!

Guys it seems the newer machine these days, the more problems SPWAW has running on them

Well, I hope that I don't have to keep tapping the mouse at the rate of fire for the MG-42.  There are times that the performance is better than others....

bets thing is make sure you have nothing running in the background while playing SPWAW
turn off all anti virus, instant messangers, etc etc.....
