The higher the distance you fly,the higher the chance to suffer from operational losses.So far,so good.But what does it means in hexes or miles?

Ah but here's one I'm not sure of.

If one plane has a range of 5/7 and another has a range of 6/8 and you fly the two planes to the same target 6 hexes away will they suffer the same operational loss rate OR does a plane suffer an additional penalty for flying to extended range above and beyond the potential for the pure mileage?
