Started as the Japanese in May 1942 and after 1.5 years of real time we just started 1944 using two day turns. Hard to believe but hats off to my opponent for sticking in there as that has been rare in my experience. Of course the Japanese empire is a shell of its former self...

I just recently updated my PC and went from a 20 minute processing time for two turns to 1.25 minutes. Now that is cool!

1.7Ghz Pent, 512M Ram, 9600XT  to 2.4Gz Dual Core, 2G Ram,  7950GX2.  Since this is a CPU intensive game, seems this is where the most benefit came from.

KDonovan and I have played 290 2-day turns since March 2006 and are now up to July 43 in scn 15.

I look back nostalgically at the former glory of my empire.

Congrats on also having an opponant that has stuck it out. It is a shame that so few games last very long.

I think I've been lucky so far. I did have one opponent drop out early (Feb '42, shortly after Baby KB took a lickin' & Balikpapan fell fully damaged.)

But my other opponents have kept on very steadily: viberpol - May '42 start & we're now in June '43 with 1 day turns. He's definitely giving me a challenge. George Patton - we agreed to quit 1 game due to bugs (April '42) but in our new game we're now already in July '42, also one one day turns. Despite damage & losses we're both continuing without pause at 1-2 turns/day.

Seems you can be vulnerable losing a Japanese PBEM player after the early glory days are over or KB is sunk.

Yes. You have to give credit to the Japanese players who stick it out.

Though from reading some AARs I don't think it's only Japanese players who drop out. I've seen a few allied players quit after losing a CV or 3.

Honestly, that seems silly to me (dropping out early on either side). How can you play a game so large and involved & not on occassion suffer a serious setback? (I say that having suffered several serious setbacks myself.) Is a person playing this game to have an enjoyable wargaming experience or to win at all costs? In a perverse way, my game against viberpol (where I've taken very heavy losses) is my most enjoyable since it's the most challenging right now.

It is early Jan '42 in my PBEM (stock), and I as the allies, have hade a couple of rather major mistakes in China. I will be lucky to hold any of China a year from now. Irregardless, I shall stick it out....

I have been lucky too with my PBEM's.

The one vs Erstad is in late 1944's and should continue soon.

The vs FDR is is also in late 1944's. He was kind enough to step in an replace my previous opponent. This game should start again in early January.

Feinder and I have been playing Ltfighter and Kbullard pretty much since release in what I think was the first 2 vs. 2 game out there.  We are playing 1 day turns and are in September 42!

My game with Drex started in Nov 2004 just ended in May 1944 with the Allied conquest of Formosa. We played one day turns, but averaged something over 1 turn per day during that span.

We are playing a second concurrently with me as Japs this time. It was an AV officially, but we elected to continue, it's now in March 43. I expect we'll hit 1946 sometine in late 2008. He'll have to nuke me to end it- if he get's that close to Japan
