I can't find the thread now, but a while ago someone was asking for the FoF manual as a Word document so that he could add notes and updates to it.

The full Acrobat program (as opposed to the free Reader) can convert PDF files to various other formats, including Word documents. As I have Acrobat Professional, I tried using it to convert the FoF manual to a Word document, and it works tolerably well. The result doesn't look as good as the original, but it's mostly intelligible. I don't know whether it's good enough to be worth using; maybe.

If anyone is interested, I could provide the Word version; but I don't think I should do so without authorization from Western Civilization.

Incidentally, the full Acrobat program can also be used to add notes and updates to PDF files while keeping them as PDF files. It's quite a useful program; but it's not cheap.

Jonathan, I'm interested in a word version of the FoF manual.

I haven't got arround to printing the FoF pdf manual yet, if I had a word version I'd change font sizes and get rid of the pictures and shrink the page count below 200 pages.

I believe I was the one to bring up the subject of a .DOC of .RTF manual. My main reason for suggesting such a thing is for updating. Inevitably, Matrix and their associated developers do a fantastic job of bug squashing and updating, but using War In the Pacific as an example, I would guess that the original manual is only 70% to 75% valid. Matrix does a great job of sending out What's New files with the updates, but I would like to incorporate the What's New information into the Game Manual itself, and if Matrix does not have the time to do so, I am more than willing to do it myself, given a format I can work with.
