I too have had success with sieges using two siege brigades. This reduces small forts in a day or two. The larger ones will always take more time and rightly so. I don't think we should make sieges too easy to win. If a defender has high morale and good weapons, there should be a good defense. Also, I have never used the attack option and I am not sure how this works. Can someone enlighten me?

It is also possible that either the human or AI opponent is making the subject of the siege (either the fort or city) stronger than they were IRL which would make the siege last longer than it did IRL.  Conversely, it is possible that the sieging force may be weaker than the one IRL.  Just my two cents -- I like the way sieges are represented in the game.

Actually there was not much territory exchange until very late in the war so hard garrisons have their place to simulate the fact that moving the borders permanently was hard during this war.

To simulate this grapping land should not be too easy.

The north made huge territorial gains in the west during 1862 and 1863.
