Now I have finally got the 2.5 patch installed, I am looking for one or two new games.

I am very much a UV veteran, having played upwards of ten PBEM games. I am not looking for a novice to spank, I would rather play someone who has a few games under their belt and has good knowledge of the ins and outs of the game.

Must be able to manage at least a turn a day and more at weekends, sorry but 2 or 3 turns a week is not enough!

I only play scn 19 as this is the only scenario that the IJN player has any chance of winning. Happy to play as either side. Rules/settings to be discussed......if you are interested let me know.

Hi:
I'll take the USN and normal settings.  How about a committment level of 120 for the US, and 180 for the IJN to make it even?  Patch 2.5 also installed. This would be my 10th or so PBEM game.  Bring it on buddy!
Have to warn you though...I'm a retired US Navy Commander! LOL  Oh, and I've actually been to Noumea.  Ah, the French.  Kicked our ass in soccer.

I did as the Allies, but then the Allies should really always win.  Miller (the Japs) really plastered the Alies - sinking 16 CV/CVLss while only losing 2 of his own.  But we both learned that unless the Japs achieve auto-victory the Allies will win.  Unless, that is, the Allied player becomes demoralized early in the game and concedes as happens pretty often in UV games.  We played the game all the way through - from May 1, 1942 to December 31, 1943.  At the end the Japs still held Lae, Rabaul, Shortlands, Lunga, and some smaller intermediate bases.  The Allies held Wewak, Kaeving, Buna, Buka , Gili Gili and had important bases at Woodlark and Goodenough.  Miller made a bi-weekly After Action Report which you can read if you want more info.  Miller is good - shortly after our game he beat another Allied opponent via auto-victory.

Hi Popeye & Dan. Thanks for the interest. I will take you up on your offer Popeye using the settings you suggested....will get the first turn out to you either tonight or tomorrow.

Dan, I am honoured by your praise....however I have agreed to take on another opponent who contacted me a few days back and can only really manage two new games at the moment. I will be back in touch once I have whipped their arses

From the reverence that UV players heap upon Miller I think that it might not take him to long to vanquish me.  I'm hoping to avoid a Japanese auto victory and then slug it out with him.  If not and Conoerebel can write the AAR this time and share a real war with us.  I figure the worst that can happen is that I real a lot while getting spanked.

Yeah, the only way to get good at the game is through experience, the only way to get experience is to play deeply into games, and when you do that you're going to get spanked repeatedly if your opponent is more experienced. A novice cannot compete with an experienced player no matter how smart. There's just too much to learn (like how to optimize logistics, plan defenses, plan attacks, and allocate forces properly - IE, to know at the outset of a game what you'll need where six months and a year down the road, which no novice can do) and also the usual "tricks" inherent in any computer game. But it's still a heck of alot of fun to figure out strategy, employ it, and see how it turns out.

Thats true. I played two scenarios und then started my first pbem-game. I lost the game, of course.I`m now playing my second
game against him and I will lose again. But this time he had to pay a price for his victory. And in the next game perhaps I will achive a draw.....

I'm learning all of the time and I try to move supplies where they'll be needed down the road while conserving my strength for what matters instead of frittering it away on meaningless missions.  Anticipation doesn't hurt either.

It appears that Miller might be looking for future opponents again soon as he's making minced meat out of the Allies in our game after 2 brief months of game time.

Interested in playing. Just joined up. Never played anyone on line. I have played #19. You are right. Only way Japanese can win. Let me know.
