258) CHANGED V1.5.0 Emancipation criteria.  The USA can now only emancipate when (a) the South has a total European diplomatic levels of 12 or more, and (b) the USA has a positive victory score for Battles won.  The CSA can now only emancipate when (a) the CSA has a total victory score of -6 or less and (b) the CSA has a negative Battles victory score.

Eric, shouldn't that be ... The USA can now only emancipate when (a) the South has a total European diplomatic levels of 12 or less ...

If Europe is more favouring the South - why would the Union be willing to emancipate ? It seems to be a polarising "act" and will probably drive Europe even more towards supporting the South...

The idea would be to win back European support by appealing to the significant segment of the European population who were strongly opposed to slavery.

To the contrary, Emancipation is really the Union's "trump card" against European intervention. Once the war becomes more about slavery, Europe would be far less likely to intervene "for" slavery.

Now that I've playtested it a bit, it's safe to reveal that we've added an excellent new feature: PBEM replay. When you get your PBEM save files, one of them will now be a "replay" file which lets you watch the entire movement phase unfold, including quick-combat battles, just the way it would if you were playing a non-PBEM game. No longer will you be in the dark regarding the specifics of what happened in the last turn.

I don't know what version number you had planned for this "patch", but it sounds to me more like 2.0 than 1.1. The changes are certainly impressive.

Eric just uploaded the most recent beta patch -- 1.6, for the record. It's got a bunch of changes that will affect battles (mostly "inside baseball" stuff involving the calculations that are made), but also did a few rather straightforward things:

1) Blockade runners have a greater chance of being sunk by Union ships. (The day of the nearly immortal runner fleet is over.)
2) Made "Legendary Units" a game option.
3) Also, LU's now start with a boost to their quality -- in the past, you might get, say, the Iron Brigade and see its quality at 1.7, which makes it practically useless.

Here's one you'll like. Note the fact that one can promote multiple generals in a single turn, if you have the slots to promote them to.
