I posted this in the War Room Forum but did not get anything that helped so will try here.

I am playing the campaign game as the Allies. It is now February 1944. In the last few game weeks Pearl has stopped generating repair points. I have 4xAD, 3xAR, 2xAS in port. All of the repair units are at zero system points. These continue to repair light units. No repairs will take place on heavy units such as a carrier. I moved all units except a carrier out of Pearl. No TF in port with unts having system damage over 5. No repairs took place. Moved the carrier out of port. Shipyard repair points remained the same at 116. I left Pearl empty for two days, no change in SRP.

All areas are under human control, no computer control. Pearl has 95,552 supply, 408,171 fuel, 42,257 oil, 40,650 resources. More than adequate support. No port damage.

How do I get my Shipyard repair back in action? Is there a worker strike or what?

I have had like results with major ships at various ports. I had the "Prince of
Wales" at Sydney with 10 sys dam. It was the only ship there with damage.
I took an entire month to reduce that to 5. At Pearl, I had numerous ships
damaged from the 12/7/41 attack. Their repair was going so sloooooooow
that I took half of them and sent then to San Francisco which repaired them all
in less that a week !! Now I am sending the rest of them to SF also. Submarines
seem to repair fast at most good bases but the bigger ships seem to take much
longer....

Did you try reloading the pwhex (map) file?

pwhex.dat is the file underlying the map graphic. It controls what the terrain of each hex actually is, and also defines the road/rail net as well as determining blocked hexes and the location of bases.

The map that you see on screen is just a painting, nothing more. It does not regulate movement in any way. It is possible to be using a map and a pwhex that are not in synch. The most obvious symptom of this might be bases that seem to be out in the middle of the ocean, and TFs sailing through dry land.

The pwhex.dat in use by the game will be found in the "C:\...\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific\" folder. Just have a look to be sure that the one that is here is the one that came with the maps that are in the "...\Art\" folder. Those are the maps that are in use by the game. These are the files "WITP00.bmp" through "WITP19.bmp", plus "WITN00.bmp" through "WITN19.bmp"

My thought is that the pwhex file has become corrupted somehow, and so the game no longer thinks there is a shipyard there... this *might* just take a "flip" of one byte... reloading the pwhex.dat file MIGHT fix the problem, but then again, if it ISN'T that, it wouldn't work.

You might try to check if the file has been massively corrupted by hitting the "1" key and seeing if the terrain type matches what you see on the map (esp in the SF area). If there is a minor corruption (say the 1 byte controlling the presence of a shipyard), then this technique might not show anything.

i am not sure how you could get the original correct pwhex file unless someone sent it to you, or you had a backup, or you reloaded the game. If you choose the last option, make sure your SAVE files are protected/backed up.

I reloaded the game including the latest patch. The problem is still there. I checked, the Pearl hex is coded CW. I note that SF is coded CU and Seattle is CW. Since I do not know what these codes mean it tells me nothing.

Anone else run into this problem at Pearl? I really need this shipyard for repairs. This leaves me only SF to repair heavies.

Help!

CW is coastal woods. CU is coastal urban. And no, never noticed the problem before, but then, I always send ships with 20 or more sys damage to the west coast for repair.

I am trying to keep my Carriers with low system damage. I rotate them through Pearl when they get 5 or more system damage. At least I used to.
