Now That the first round of the Tournament is coming to a close and there are a few more players floating around the board I was wondering if there would be interest in a 2 vs 2 tournament idea that I have had for a while but wanted to wait until round 1 was over.

The name of the Tournament will be 2vs2 Can I Trust You Tournament

It will have some similarities to the single player tournament but will be quite different.

In each round (6 rounds max) each team will play one allied game and one axis game.
Your team must win or draw one game to move to the next round.

Each team will have a Team Score and a Individual Score
The Highest team score at the end of the tourney gets a Congratulations, thanks for playing.
The Highest Individual score will win an engraved statue/trophy which I have not chosen or decided on the engraving yet.

When your team finishes a game your team receives or loses points based on this chart:
- Decisive Victory: +60
- Substantive Victory: +40
- Marginal Victory: +30
- Draw: +20
- Marginal Defeat: +10
- Substantive Defeat: 0
- Decisive Defeat: -20

That is how Team Score is calculated.

Each Individual on the team has his own Individual Score which is equal to 1/2 of the Team Score plus AAR points earned, plus any points earned in the COLD WAR.

That's right, this tourney continues on to the EAST vs WEST SCENARIO if the Allies cause the Axis to surrender before the end Date.
(Edit July28 2007) Due to the unbalanced nature of a wwIII continuation game I have cut the East West points in half

Points for East vs West
- Decisive Victory: +15
- Substantive Victory: +10
- Marginal Victory: +7.5
- Draw: +5
- Marginal Defeat: +2.5
- Substantive Defeat: 0
- Decisive Defeat: -5
Edit Dec 24, 2007: Scoreing Change
SU players who reach East vs West will gain +5 points at completion of east East vs West game.
This is because of the severe unballanced nature of East vs West I dont want to see any SU players score negetive points.

AARs

In an effort to easily keep track of the progress of each game I am going to create a thread in the AAR section for each game and each player will be required to post in the thread everytime they E-mail a turn.

They will post minimum:
1) the World Power they are playing
2) the game date they just played
3) the player they have sent the E-mail to

This is required and each time a player fails to do so will cost him 1pt off his individual score.

Optional per post:
1) One screenshot
2) A description of the turn

For each post that contains these optional items the player will be awarded 1/4 pt on his individual score. Thats 1 pt for each game year or about 6 pts for a game up to 1946 and even more if the game goes into East vs West.

The settings:
Uncommon Valor Scenario
FOG=ON
ADV Supplies
End Date=ON
AV=ON

Time Commitment may turn many off since we already have a tourney going.
This will be a long drawn out Tournament (which is the nature of 2 vs 2 anyway)
So each Team will have 1 week to get the file back to the other team.
Earlier would be better but a week should be enough.

You will be alternateing which World Power you play each round.
So if you make it to all 6 rounds you will have played WA 3x SuCh3x GE3x JA3x
Thats 6 chances to get to the Cold War
And 6 Chances to deny the other teams a chance at the Cold War points.

Ok, I think that is enough to wet some appitites for a 2 vs 2 tournament.
Teams will be formed in the order players join.
If you already have a partner state that in your post.
I would say we need a minimum of 12players/6 teams to get this started.

Lots of room!
There is no limit to the number of players that can join except that it will have to be an even number in the end.
Once we hit 6 teams then the games may start and I will probably leave sign-ups open for a couple more weeks after that.
All are welcome unless you plan to go MIA

Kondor I have added you to the list.
If you really think you will not have the time for one turn a week per game let me know and I will remove you.

We only need 2 more teams and then the fun can begin.

Hi all

I'm joining. I have asked a511 to form a team with me. If he doesn't join then I guess me and Haudrauf are going to be brothers in arms

Hi rjh1971: Glad to see you join.
Nobody will be brothers in arms once the shooting start in East vs West hence the name of the tournament.
I am going to put you on team F and we shall see if a511 joins before your team gains another solo player.

Traitors would be treated acordingly, once we defeat the Axis.

When playing the Axis, we will be.

Mr Quiet, you chose the right teammate ;), and I'm equally glad to have you as a partner. BTW, why aren't we scheduled to play against rhj1971/a511 as Allies in 6)? Seems we are the missing pair there.

And Jan, would be nice to have you in this too! You can be the last needed player :)

Having a good partner is actualy a double edged sword. It will help you win the uncommon valor scenario but can seriously bite you in the ass in the East vs West. I do belive there will be some very interesting drama in this tournament.

The reason we are not the Allies in game 6 is because I plan to leave sign-ups open for 2 full weeks after the tourney starts. In the last tourney we got some straggler players who decided they wanted to join, and I figure the more teams we get the better for the tournament. Once the AARs become interesting some more players may wish to join. A two week delay in our second game will most likely be no big deal in the greater scheme of things.

I would really like to see Jan join this one also. Its just not a tournament without the master player in the fold.

fcam1387 you must have posted while I was composing my message.
You are definately in and that means the tournament is now ON!
2 bad I have been out drinking for the last 6 hours or I would start game 1) right now.

Sign-ups will remain open until Sunday March 11.
All of you German players remember to use the Uncommon Valor Scenario, and to set the games up for 4 players when you start your games.
Good Luck to all!

MrQuiet:

Two more weeks for signs up seems a lot of time, I'm saying this because the last team (for the moment me and a511) won't be able to send the first turn to you and Avatar, until march the 12th.
Have you thought of it, or was it a slip from your 6 hours with Baco (Roman wine's god )

Maybe you should reduce this period.

Rafael.

At a turn per week we will only be behind by 2 turns.
If the new team is anxious to play we could even catch up quickly.
You most likely will not be waiting that long as we could possibly have another team join by the end of today.

Now I must be off to start my teams Axis Game.

There are some pretty tough opponents there... IMO MrQuiet/Avatar47 and rjh1971/a511 will reach the finals ;-). Altough dobeln/BoerWar could also get far... And if Jan/Charlie (or some other "master" players) decide to join this may change.
I would be happy if I could make it into 2nd round

ps. I think that would be better if the moderator could open new thread for all tournaments, so that is not in clash with opponents wanted...

Thanks for the compliments, but so far I've got clobbered by Christian, a511, and Mrquiet.
And still only some battles won on my side but no wars
Wanderinghead might be the next one to kick my arse.
Anyway I hope to be as troublesome as possible, you also learn from the defeats.

I also prefer 1 vs 1 (or at least I think I do since I have never played 2 vs 2).
But I wanted to see the kool game option of continuing on in East vs West get utilized and hear about the storys via AAR.
The decisions that have to be made on the allied side when the end of the Axis is drawing near.
The tension over how long or even if the WA wants to lend lease Ru.
Some of these decisions could have a severe impact on allied play since they can not totaly trust their friends across the sea

A note to my partners and opponents: I'm still recovering from my move ("Hmm, what was in which box again?!") and have a crappy internet connection at the moment (telecommunication companies - either they're doing wonders or they seem to do nothing at all...), but I will send my turn eventually.
