Attached is a TAB delimited text file (open it w/ Excel) of black professional baseball players. I compiled this list based on research from Sol White's History of Colored Baseball, The Biographical Encyclopedia of the Negro Leagues and The Negro League Encyclopedia. I did not intend to capture every player but rather those most likely (a very subjective criteria) to have had success in MLB were it not for segregation. I would like to expand on the number of players in this list and I would love to have the input of the baseball scholars in the forum. If you keep a similar list for your "what-if" associations crosscheck it and let me know how to improve my list.

What I would really like to do is incorporate these players into an modified Lahman DB using normalized and projected statistics from the limited stats available so they could be easily imported. I know I'll get to that point and hopefully before I get too old, maybe much sooner with the community's help.

I'd love to do something similar with the stars of Japanese baseball history too. Feel free to share your notes on that subject if you have any.

Just a quick note to say that I think this is a great idea. I'd love to be able to import some of the Negro League players into my league.

Don't know anything about how to do it, but I certainly support the idea.

I know creating your own universe with players that you have limited stats to can be really tough. I at one time attempted to recreate our local Alaska Baseball League but it took alot of work and I never finished. I hope to start that project back up again because I was so excited about it. My hope was to get the league complete and then go show it to the Alaska Baseball League and maybe spark up some interest and get those guy's to buy Shaun's game or give him free advertising at the games or something.
