Hello
I'm facing a japanese offensive in russia (may 42, vaniila map patch 1.801, full war scenario). The IJN have supremacy betwenn korea and vladivostok, so I've sent few USN SS at Vlad'. I've tried several things but I can't refuel in port...
Is there a peticular rule for russian ports ?
thank you !

(russian troops are activated, I even based B17 near vlad, and then begin to bomb tokyo like Doolittle but without CV).

What type of rule do you mean? If Russia is fully activated, then you can do what your conscience will let you get away with...

This was added in patch 1.802:

quote:

Item 42 - Allow limited refueling from Soviet Bases once Soviets are active.
Fueling is not allowed from Soviet Bases until soviets are active. Found a few places where the "until
soviets are active" portion of the check was not implemented. Corrected all checks to include soviet
activation. Also limited refueling once soviets are active to Ships in Soviet Task Forces unless base has
been captured by the Japanese, in which case only Japanese ships may refuel there.

Intresting. I thought that the Soviet ports would act as any other allied base once active but it seems that this is not the case.

Me too. I wonder what "limited refueling" means...

I think that in this case "limited" is a verb...meaning NO refueling for TFs other than Soviet.

EDIT: It seems to be a patch addendum.

Whatever I suppose...The game allows them even though there are no Soviet ships in vanilla...AFAIK.

That is (as noted), once USSR is activated.

Never tried it in WitP, but in WPO a TF's nationality was dictated by the port in which it was created, so that even if you had nothing but US ships in a Chinese port, the TF you built out of them would be Chinese...

Nope...in WitP it's ship's nationality that dictates the TF nationality.

Besides, even if it was like WPO, you could still form a Soviet TF.

Flagship's nationality, actually.

I tried to disband the tf and then to creat it again at vlad, but no way to refuel. So the russans ports are useless for the allied player.
Have anybody ever faced the same problem ? is there a solution (even gamey ) ?
(I know that japanese attack in russia is quite unusual but may be.....)

Depends what mod you are playing: in vanilla WITP, i'd agree they are pretty useless. However, if you are playing CHS with Russian Fleet, they are useful.

You could probably refuel USN subs there by combining them into a Russian TF, i'd guess.

The only work around is to dock a tanker or AO is the port and get it to load a fuel cargo. Then use the refuel at sea option to refuel other tfs. I am having to do this in a 1.804 Big B 1.2 game. It uses up four or five AOs depending on how many ports you wish to use and you'll need some TKs to cart fuel around to the ports which do not produce it. If my opponent was actually fighting me rather than just letting me play with my Russian toys they'd be nice juicy targets...
