My game vs. Raver is in late September and my CVs still haven't made the change in size from 1/3 all to 3/8,3/8,2/8. Fisrt I ignored it thinking it would appen eventualy but after checking the manual I must say I'm a bit worried. There hasn't been any CV battles in the summer so I wasn't that nervous but with '43 coming I need every fighter on the decks I can get my hands on. Did anyone else have that problem and will it fix itself on 1st of some month? I emphasize that not a single CV has made the change, they are all on 1/3 still. I have lost Akagi and Hiryu and Sho and Zui have had their 7/42 upgrade, if it helps in any way. The game is stock scenario 15 with minimal database changes that effect Type13 radar, there's 1 new aircraft and 2 are modified.

Try setting your daitai to "replacements on".  I'd make sure your daitai are full up with planes and pilots first, or you'll fill them up with the untrained weenies.  Sometimes that will encourage them to change.

I'm having this same problem, was wondering WTF. Not sure about setting replacements to on, but I suppose it's worth a try. I do remember that in an earlier game, my CV groups all reorganized on 7/1/42 on the dot, and I'm pretty sure I did not have replacements set on. But why should my memory suddenly become reliable now?

In my longest PBEM (31 Dec 42) I lost the Kaga, but the other 5 CVs are still kicking.  All but one have changed.  The 5th is still at 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 but she currently is laid up with damage.  Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

The CV needs to be disbanded in a base.
And the HQ of the base must be present in the hex also.
And the groups must have replacements on.
And I think upgrades on but not sure about this. Might only apply to the USN CV group changes.
And there must be 'sufficient supply' (20K+ IIRC).

...that's all I can recall from top of my head

Basically, from trial and error.
Had similiar experience as to why it seemed to work sometimes and not others.

Don has posted the "rules" for resizings several times in the past - hunting them down isn't all that easy - but he'll probably post them again one day.

What I do is hope and pray that my groups do NOT resize. I'd rather control it myself. SO what I do to control it, is use the non-carrier trained airgroups as "fillers".

Like right now I have Junyo, Shoho and Unyo operating together.

Junyo has a 27 plane "carrier capable" fighter unit .. and a 9 plane "carrier capable" Val unit and a 9 plane "carrier capable" Kate unit. Here actual airgroup is in China training up.
The Unyo also has a 27 plane "cc" fighter unit aboard.
The Shoho now has her actual airgroup embarked, because they just completed training up in CHina, but prior to that she had a 27 plane "cc" kate unit on board.
So by swaping the planes out, and trying to avoid the conditions that allow resizings, I do the resizings and mix changes myself!
