I have recently started my first PBEM campaign game with PDU on (BigB Mod scen 192) as the Japanese.

I have taken a look at my industrial production, and it seems like Japan has waaay more factories than heavy industry points. From my calcs, Japan generates about 12,500 HI points a day. However, my calcs also show that all potential Japanese industry would consume something like 54,500 HI points a day.

Does that sound about right to everyone? If that is correct, then I really need to start shutting down some factories to guide my production, don't I?

Is a warlord's work never done?

There is something wrong with your counting.. 54500HI is a way too much. How did you come to this number?
Maybe you have counted your engine and AC factories but forgot to divide them by 30 to get their daily need?

Jumper,

I did not divide the aircraft and engine factories by 30 as you said.  That would probably explain it.  I thought that the major HI deficit I was seeing in the Home Islands had to be wrong.  So daily HI need for my aviation industry should be:

HI needed  =  Aircraft factories x # of engines per plane x 18 HI per plane / 30  + Engine factories x 18 HI per engine / 30

What about armament and AFV factories?  Should they be divided by 30 to get daily output as well before calculating HI needs?

If I understand the way naval and merchant shipyards work, those number do actually equal daily output, not monthly.  So I would just multiply the number of shipyards by 3 to get daily HI needed there, right?

Thanks for the help.

Hi,
only AC and engine factories should be divided by 30. All others are showing daily outcome.

Thanks, jumper.

That brought the numbers down to within reason.

Mike
