I know Hard Sarge is not thinking about fantasy scenarios right now since he has enough to do.
But a fun fantasy scenario for a patch would be a complete 1943 scenario with all the fantasy weapons thrown in.
Germans get their really weird piston driven planes and most of their experimental jet fighters, Americans get a few early jet fighters as do the British.
And the Americans get several groups of the B-29 bomber. Maybe even give the British some as well for use on night bombing attacks
I have always wanted to see how the B-29 would have done in Europe facing better fighters with better pilots in a better bomber defense situation.

Something to think about for the future

To be honest (hehehe)

we could add that to the game as is, but I need some kind of trigger, maybe if score is below so and so, then these are allowed to be built, but...

the B-29 would be interesting, as it was pretty much seen as not being needed, so went to the PTO, but so saying, remember, it was pretty much designed with the ETO in mind, it would of or could of been a really High Alt bomber (with the same trouble the 17 and 24 had with seeing the target)

and really, not much the GE would of been able to do about it, now the Ta-152 may of been something to match it, if they could of been made in numbers

now the 2nd/3rd Gen Jets that were being worked on, may of been interesting

(the 262 is interesting, as most people brush it off as a what if, or what could of been, but over all, it was a nothing, But, in a short time, it did shoot down over 500 planes, even more so, when you think about the time that it did fly)

sooooo

some of the Allied What if, what could of been, are in the works, but I need the triggers to get them in, and as Harley likes to say, put it on the list

I would prefer an entire scenario given over to fantasy stuff like Allied jet planes and the B-29 and then add in lots of crazy German ideas.

That and a 'clean' 1943 scenario with no damage are at the top of my list for patches
Or even better a early 1942 scenario

the clean one is doable, it just is the time to do it, the 2nd one, is doable, but a lot more work and time, but worth thinking about, for down the road

the 3rd, is doable, but totally screws up the OOB, units and times and pilots, but, it could be done, if nobody minds that the units and pilots are all comeing in at the wrong time (IE we make a Sept 42 start, but with the Aug 43 OOB, but then, that pretty much screws up the whole idea) then would be no hassle, but to get the OOB correct, or with in reason correct (as no OOB is going to be totally correct) would be a major rework

plus needs some code work, or code checking for things that are suppost to happen and when

(ahhhhhh, NA would be a major issue, then Sicly)

Are you planning to relase editing tools?
Players could do new scenarios and mods on their own.

no, we don't really plan on releaseing any Tools

too much of the code and OOB are based on each other

what would look like a easy/simple change could totally change things

the way things build, the size of this or that, means much more then it may look like

What you could do is first release the "base" game with the feature list you have on the table, and then start work on a fantasy expansion which contains a number of fantasy scenarios or expanded/early scenarios. Kinda like they did with IL-2 with the 1946 expansion. Or Paradox has done with Hearts of Iron and its Doomsday expansion.

Roger, right now, we trying to get all the UI work to work, and get the base OOBs corrected and working

and to include what alot of people felt should of been included

later on, we should be able to add in more

You could always allow the use of the B-29 if the Allied score fails to keep pace with what is required to stop the Axis winning. This represents that the war isn't going well in Europe for the Allies and B-29s will now be sent to the European theatre instead of the PTO. This isn't really a fantasy scenario as it could well of happened.

Roger, the trouble is in programming the trigger, and the time it will take to get it to work right, also other triggers to allow other things to happen

so, over all, while we got ideas on what to do and how to do it, getting it done, takes time, and...

best we can offer right now, is down the road, and it is being thought about

Totally understand and agree, but the mechanism already exists for working out Axis victory conditions so in principle it would be a simple matter to work out the trigger based on this, how simple this would be to implement in the code is another matter.

ie if Allied score falls to within x of what is needed for an Axis victory allow B-29s at y per day

Definitely one for the future though.

Even though you don't really plan on releasing mod tools; will it still be somewhat friendly to modding? E.g. graphics in an easily moddable format, and the aircraft data in a separate .dat file, instead of tied up and encrypted in the EXE?

I'm thinking of using BTR/12OCH as a sort of "role playing game" to help simulate bombing raids and losses in an alternate history universe.

grafics and sounds are easy to change in this game
A/C data and aircrafts themselfes are another matter - there are more variables for an A/C than there is shown in the game and therefore the game breaks easily when you change data. ( happened on a regular basis with the first player build editors )
Also some data is fixed in the exe....

do not forget that this game will be based on the old BoB/BtR and is not a complete new game.

Well...since we're on the subject of the B-29...Once you're done shipping :) - Could you use the game engine to model the bombing campaign of Japan during 44-45? No small project, but check the link out. This company appears to have modified the "B-17 Queen of the Skies" boardgame to the PTO.

Think of the possibilities - new interceptors - IJN and IJAA planes - Ki-61s, Ki-45s, Ki-84s, Ki100, J2Ms, N1KJ and then the experimental aircraft - candard configured J7W and jet powered J9Y. Low Level, High Level Bombing, mine laying, with our without fighter support (until early 45).

There are no "small projects" with this game. It's just to big and to complex.

while a interesting idea, I am not sure this is the right engine to try and do it with, even taking off from Guam or Siapan, that would be a very big map, and most of the map would be nothing but water (if you make the Japan area worth looking at and attacking/plotting raids on)

plus it may be a little too one sided for most players to enjoy

the 29 can fly higher then most of the JP fighters, very little or very poor flak, the jet stream would make hitting the target very HARD, switch to night attacks, and then low level fire raids with again a poor Night defence system

I do like the idea though :)

Looks like a well done variant to B-17 QotS, but they have lost their mind on the price.
