played philippine sea (the back from the dead variant) as IJN and must say i whomped the AI. sank 9 USN carriers and did not suffer a single air strike against my carriers. am i that good or is the AI not that aggressive in that scenario? i know i got spotted.

ok, so what i was really trying to find out was if anyone else has experienced a "passive" USN AI in this scenario.

I've had situations in which the AI seemed to be sitting around just waiting to be sunk. In other cases I've seen the AI seem to have incredible deck handling skills and make multiple strikes from a single carrier extremely quickly. I will grant CAW this - the AI is not too predictable, though it won't do some odd things that a player might do such as fly all the carrier planes to a land base and leave the CV's out of range - stuff like that.
