Greetings, did the ASW routine changed (tweaked) in recent patch. Noticed that is almost impossible to get direcet hit on sub - even when you score direct hit i got message "submarine takes water" and in combat report there is no fires reported. I did carefully watch only Japanese ASW, but can confirm that Allied ASW is not so efficient as it was before...or is it only my imagination?

Well, it could be my impression but Jap asw forces doesn't hit enemy subs directly so often as it was before, while Jap subs now can survive allied ASW attack even against decent ASW TF...

Perhaps the last patch put it into effect in old games?

New Player Requested Features:

4)       Anti-submarine attack routines have been rewritten.  Now, seldom will more than 4 ASW vessels normally attack a submarine during a single phase (although many may search).  Number of attacking ships depends on task force type, ships types and lots of skill rolls.  Instead of each ship making one or two attacks, they may now sometimes continue to attack until out of ASW ammunition.  Number of attacks made depend on task force type, ships types and lots of skill rolls.  Hits are now deadly much less often, usually doing a point or two of system damage and or occasionally a point or so of flood damage.

Perhaps i wasn't clear in my post... i'm talking what i've noticed in last three week game period...even after i've patched to 1.8 which was few months ago IIRC, i didn't notice such (BIG) changes... now, Andrew started new sub campaign recently. Before that i was able to deal with his subs more easily and my subs usually sinks after first or second encounter (or they had bigger damage level after attack, at least)

So, is it possible that in very last patch (1.806) ASW routine is tweaked once again or it is just my impression (likely)?

Well, "recent" can be a very relative thing. I'm not aware of any announced changes to ASW combat in 1.806, but that doesn't mean that something didn't impinge on it. However, I suspect that it is much more likely that you simply didn't notice the change until a few weeks ago.

Michael Wood rewrote the ASW routines for WPO. These were ported over to WITP via beta releases 1.7.x.y and ultimately via production release 1.8.0.0

Subsequently there have been no changes to the ASW routines.
