Hi

I've been playing the Rising Sun Scenario "The Main Event". When I get to turn 23 the Japanese have their indirect fire, move and fire but then the game freezes as the Japanese turn ends. No error message. Any help appreciated.

As this scenario has caves I'd chalk this one up to the Japanese cave bug.

I believe Jason has said that it will be looked at but I am not sure if there is a current work around for the issue.

Thanks for the info. I've had this happen to me before with the Talonsoft version. Do you have any more info on the bug or a link I could follow to find out more. Once again thanks much.

It is something I found in '99 and am still trying to get taken care of. I ran this by Bevard and JT back then and not everyone had the issue. Original version of the Wakde Tutorial with the cave was good but it was removed. This was not an issue in the very early TS RS version but cropped up later as things progressed.

Frenchy suggested moving caves more than 3 hexes from one another. I think it is a combination of movement and spotting but I am still toying with it. There is the work around of editing the SCN but I am interested and have been bothered for years as to why it happens.

"I remember the bug when i was playing with a personal scenario about Iwo Jima and Mount Suribachi... During US Off board artillery... the IA Japanese defensive cave movement (rules : hidden jap movement "caves within a range of 3 hex.") create the crash during the game ... So to solve this real problem in my scenario, the cave hexs were set up more than 3 hex of each others... "

I would say one another thing : With this solution, the bug seem to disappear but there are no more cave movement available for the Japanese Player since the caves hexes range is > 3 hex ... So somewhere, it's a loss of value for Japanese defensive positions...

Hope "the bug" will be fixed in a new patch ...

Sorry to be so long in replying. Been out of the country. Here is what was happening.

In turn 23 of the Rising Sun scenario “The Main Event” the Japanese have their indirect fire phase, fire, move and fire as normal but the games freezes as it tries to go to the American indirect fire phase.

Any insight appreciated. Thanks

do you know if the cave freeze bug has been squashed yet for the upcoming 1.03 patch?
