I hope that isn't too long a subject line.

I am running windows XP with a 256 Mb Radeon X800 AGP video card on an LCD screen (a desktop machine, Athlon XP (32 bit) 2800+ (2.08 GHz). If I walk away from the computer with AWD running for long enough for the screen to turn off, after the screen comes back on the AWD window is all black and needs to be killed with task manager (ctl-alt-del).

Is there any way other than disabling the screen shutoff to remedy this?

Thanks!

I also use an LCD monitor but I don't use any of the XP Power functions. Instead, I just turn the monitor off with the power switch when I leave it for any length of time. I got tired of having background services running of ANY kind since so many games have problems with them. The Power functions of XP are a background service, and in the DOS days we called them TSR's. Terminate, Stay Resident. They are trouble to some programs.

One question though... do you also have "Turn off hard disks:" enabled on that same Power menu? That could cause a problem like you described.
