I can't seem to figure out the xml. When I make edits to the real player section it seems to have little outcome on the results of my games. I believe that these are still being used for the purposes of the sim as Shaun recently added the CG modifier to this section. But if you look at the below edit and the almanac for my season I think you will see it isn't really reflecting the changes I made relative to the historical results.

Not being a statistician at heart and lacking any familiarity with the numbers for that era, could you please help me out-- are those numbers unusually high, unusually low, or just right?

It came out pretty much right on the era. I'll post some more snapshots of the default XML and from BB Reference the 1900 season leader board.

So you can see I made some really drastic changes in the xml (from Mult_HR="1" and mult_CG="79.31" to mult_HR=21 and mult_CG="12.31". But the results are still pretty much dead on the historical era. It seems that some other factor has more to do with the outcome than the xml.

BTW: I had modern closer usage "ON" and DH for both leagues - please don't try me for whichcraft and heresy... It's for the purposes of the test. The saves leader in my league had 16, only 4 guys in double-digits and my guy had only 9. (And my Mgr setting was "Quick Hook") Not too modern if you ask me.

Here is where I started on my Mult_HR settings to try and modernize the deadball era.... I used 1986 as a baseline year and figured the average number of HR per team in 1986 and applied that to my PS season adjusted for the muber of teams in the league (16 vs. 26) and used that as the relative HR multiplier. Since all of the mult_HR in the "Real Player" xml section are "1" I figured this was a good start.

RangeMin="1901" RangeMax="1901" mult_hr="4.87"
RangeMin="1902" RangeMax="1902" mult_hr="6.24"
RangeMin="1903" RangeMax="1903" mult_hr="6.63"
RangeMin="1904" RangeMax="1904" mult_hr="6.72"
RangeMin="1905" RangeMax="1905" mult_hr="6.56"
RangeMin="1906" RangeMax="1906" mult_hr="8.45"
RangeMin="1907" RangeMax="1907" mult_hr="9.05"
RangeMin="1908" RangeMax="1908" mult_hr="8.24"
RangeMin="1909" RangeMax="1909" mult_hr="8.52"
RangeMin="1910" RangeMax="1910" mult_hr="6.13"
RangeMin="1911" RangeMax="1911" mult_hr="4.31"
RangeMin="1912" RangeMax="1912" mult_hr="5"
RangeMin="1913" RangeMax="1913" mult_hr="4.73"
RangeMin="1914" RangeMax="1914" mult_hr="4.68"
RangeMin="1915" RangeMax="1915" mult_hr="5.25"
RangeMin="1916" RangeMax="1916" mult_hr="5.79"
RangeMin="1917" RangeMax="1917" mult_hr="6.63"
RangeMin="1918" RangeMax="1918" mult_hr="9.42"
RangeMin="1919" RangeMax="1919" mult_hr="4.96"
RangeMin="1920" RangeMax="1920" mult_hr="3.52"
RangeMin="1921" RangeMax="1921" mult_hr="2.37"

The results with these numbers were just about the same as with the "21" multiplier in my xml with this test. From another test I have done, the "slider" set to 100 seems to have more effect on the results but only allows a doubling of the season total, assuming the default 50 and max 100 are equivalent to a "1" or "2" in the xml respectively.

If I remember a convesation from the old boards correctly, historical players will tend towards their historical stats more than their ratings or the xml would suggest.

Do you know, would this be true of real players imported into PS Classic associations? I have another unrelated issue with that scenario but then I would think in that case the ratings and xml would have to take precedence over real stats in a fictional baseball universe. I have not tested it, I don't know - I am speculating.

Also - I would be content (ecstatic actually) to play in a fictional PS Classic Association if I could start in the year of my choice with fictional players and import real players without the source year appended (for aesthetic and functional reasons). This option doesn't work and there a number of issues with the work-arounds that I have tried.
