I have an HP nx9420 laptop which i bought recently. It has a 1440x900 resolution, and is the only computer I own. If the 1st patch comes out quickly then no biggie, otherwise, it is quite a shame to not support this common resolution.

Cheers

If a patch comes out to support other reses, it would come out fairly quickly. So i'd say for now, don't let that influence your decision to buy the game or not.

No problem with my home PC CRT, it's a native 1280*1024, but my laptop is 1280*720 so won't make it.
Note that 1280*1024 isn't a very practical res as it's neither 4/3 nor 16/9 ratio.

PDiFolco,

Which model laptop do you have?  1280 x 720 is a very uncommon resolution these days - the majority of laptops are 1280 x 800.

Oops my bad, it is 1280*800 indeed, and it's a common Fujitsu Amilo model 2yrs old.

Another vote here for 12x8 resolution.  This is a game I would definitely use more on my laptop, as I could play it on the commuter train on my way home from work.

BTW, I'm very happy to see HL make it to the PC.  I have HL2 (PDF and Vassal) and Apache-Thunderbolt leader, so I'm a big fan of the series.

I have 2 laptops 1280x800 and 1440x900 both are less than 2 years old with my dell less than 9 months old. 1440x900 is very common for business class laptops (I am a developer), since they travel better than multimedia 17" laptops.

Its a shame, cause I had my credit card out and was gonna make the purchase.

Excuse for my bad english.

I Admit: I could use the game at 1280*1024.

But I'm very disappointed because I think this game is very good to play on my laptop (1280*800).

Soon or later I'll buy the game (i loved too much the boardgame!!): Please let me play the game everywhere and everytime I can spend 10 minutes !!!

for me the resolution wasn't the problem...to play I had to reset my fonts from 105dpi to the "normal" 96dpi....may not sound like a lot, but my fonts look much smaller now to my not-so-young-anymore eyes...gggrrrrrr.

Unfortunately, my max screen size is 1440x900. Other system is 1280x800.

I bought the game and can run the first turn but cannot go beyond that...sigh.

AirCanuck: In the VERY near future, I will release a patch to support a few more resolutions, including 1280x800 and 1024x768 as well possibly.

Great arguments all round.
Still does not change the fact that I have used my hard earned to by a product I can not use.
Poll is at over20% now. That is better than 1 in 5 purchases if my mafffs serves me well.

Those who bought the game can e-mail me directly and get unique opportunities to eventually try out new code that can adjust the resolutions and/or other cool stuff.  E-Mail: stormcreations@comcast.net

Whoops, glad I read this thread--I was about to whip out my CC to order, but my laptop (due to cirumstances--aka, wife and kid!--my main gaming machine these days) is another that maxes out at 1440x900 (the res I run at).  So I'll hold off until I read about the patch to support other resolutions (even most ofthe the pretty high-end Toshiba X205s I'm dreaming about as a replacement max out at 1440x900: http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?seg=HHO&poid=394293  -- only the X205-SLi3 supports a higher res).

But reading the AARs over on the Wargamer have me excited to give this a try, so I hope it won't be too very long for the patch.

My aim now is to have some kind of 1280x800 (very close to its native res, but good medium laptop res) support in soon.

FYI, I ran into this limitation on my 1280x800 laptop as well, but I did just find a workaround. If you have a nVidia card and recent drivers, set your scaling as shown in the screenshot. Some of the screens still appear cut off, but with this setting if you move your mouse to the screen edges it does scroll so that you can see and interact with the rest of the (normally larger) screen. Your mileage may vary, but while this isn't ideal, it worked for me.

thanks erik, Unfortunatly I could only choose 1440 res on my lap top. This will get me to fast attack phase but I can not get any further. my screens will not scroll. Would be gould if we could get hot keys on a future patch if buttons are not accesible due to screen res

The 1.1 update was not supposed to address this. It's still on the to-do list.

Rats looks like I hosed myself by not catching this before buying. Any chance for a fix on this or a refund?

Sorry..fwiw your sys reqs say it won't run comfortably which I didn't catch when looking to buy. Just assumed there was really nothing special about the display reqs and had no problems with the other Matrix games I bought this past year so didn't expect it..There's my case.. any help would be great.

Thanks!

If you don't have a computer that can run the game, e-mail me at erikr@matrixgames.com and we can discuss. And yep, it's a good idea to always read the system requirements carefully.
