A search plane (Nell) discovered a Carrier TF (Wasp) but the air crews that were on Naval Attack standby failed to attack the TF. There were land based Nell and Betty bombers with morale 60% + and fatigue lower than 5-% supposedly ready to go. Several escort groups had been assigned Cdr's Discresian from a variety of locations.
Manual says that escorts do NOT have to fly out of same hex as bombers.
So, question is; Why did they refuse or fail to fly against the CV TF?
[I know this was covered many moons ago -- but couldn't find the thread to resurrect the issue.]
This is the second time I've had to stand my air marshal against a wall and shoot him during the same scenario.

What was the weather like?  What was the distance involved in the hoped for attack?  A TF at sea is moving and LBA doesn't always attack due to this reason. It's possible that the expected CAP was strong enough to discourage an attack.  The maddening part of UV is that, as in real life a commander's orders aren't always followed or are interpreted wrong.

Oops - Sorry air marshall... The weather was RIANY. The distance was great. My air marsall is still dead.

Oh well, there are more pixels where he came from. Thanks Tocaff.
