I have a situation in 3.8ANW were the sonar radio button always goes to off. this is so whether the sonar is active or passive and regardless of the data base used. Is this a general bug, please?

Yep. Sensor status reverts to passive - it doesn't always happen but it usually does. It seems to be a problem with older scenarios.

EMCOM in the Unit status window is always correct, but doesn't cover sonar. (EM = Electronmagnetic, radio/infrared/visual etc).

Mind you, active sonar is so short range (3NM or less) using it means you are in serious trouble.

Hopefully fixed by next patch. One thing to try is to load and then save the scenario editor with the scenario editor (It's in the Extras section off the Harpoon ANW start menu entry).

But it rarely fixes it. Thing is, if you design a scenario from the ground up, it doesn't happen.

It's the same bug with ECM too. You click on ECm, the status says it's on, but the button menu still says off.

I'm fairly sure it was your ANW database Dale (same as on latest 3.8 public), TTLTALE scenario but I could be wrong. Don't waste time on it if you can't easily replicate it UNTIL I get you a definiteive answer to what database, what scenario.

The EMCON reading in the Unit Status window is accurate BUT the window to actually change the sensors comes up as all set to passive. Playing with the intermittent settings has no apparent effect. I don't use missions (all craft set manually) so it's pretty much every time I click on a unit to edit the sensor settings.

Here's the thing - I'm sure used to it that it's not uncommon, in fact I find it "normal" (for ANW 3.8).

Double checked - the man is right, seems to happen with all subs in all ANW scenarios. Even using the ANW 2.0 Database that's installed with 3.8.

Over to you Dale.

It's most noticeable on subs but I've seen it on ECM and radar too in my own db/scenario.

Seems a general "let's reset the players viewpoint" bug rather than "let's go check what the current values are, then tell the player".

It looks like the newest release candidate matched up with the newest version of the database you are playing with seems to fix the problem with ECM and Sonars in the Sensors setting window.

??????????????

Playing Beta 15 with the latest beta DB downloads produces exactly the same behaviour.

This is on Mantis (thank you Dale) so why do you think it's fixed KlubMarcus?

I do know that platforms are reverting to all passive settings after they are finished a mission or are removed from it (by hitting the 'U' key). Could this be part of what you're experiancing?

Would this occur in multi-player while typing in the chat window? If I forget to click on the chat window before I start to type I could see it happening. I'll check next time I am on and see what happens.
