Java is very safe. Hard nut is an understatement. He has to take Palembang first or it will be a major thorn in his side. Made another Dutch Regiment flown into there. I would even think about rounding up all those garrison battalions scattered about and flying them back to Java or Palembang. Nice base Palembang, lots of supplies and is malaria free. Then he would have to come after it with a division or so. I suppose you have been building forts there since day 1?

He has Betties at Singapore. I'm not going after Kuching or Palembang. That would be suicide. Kendari is a nice base though. And also the east side of Borneo is interesting. Palembang and Brunei are useless to him. There within B17 range. As soon as he lands there, I will bomb the place into the stone age.

Have ALL your subs standing by near japan, or in case of your S boats (less fuel), near PH.

Pull your S boats back to to a "convenient" place for them to refuel, they will be a great asset in the comming struggle. Put the most agressive commanders into them, use them as all or nothing attack platforms. Use them mainly to pick of "stagelers", as an attack on a 100 ship convoy with plenty of escorts will most likely just get them damaged.

Marky could pull of a diversion either to USA or Pearl while actually going for the other. Be prepared for that. He cant have BOTH, he just does not have the supplies for it......

MINE, MINE and then MINE some more......

Biggest problem: WHERE to station your biggest CV killer assets, your navy/marine divebombers.

They have short legs, so you must deploy them via transport to either PH or the USA...
Do you already have a CVE ? (long island), if you do, use it as an emergency high speed plane transport.....

Good luck

Fortress Java is in place. Marky will have to bring in a lot of troops to break the defense. It is April now. The last three weeks nothing happened. He has 600+ AKs in Osaka. Intelligence tells me that there are 2 CVs in Tokyo, 2 in Osaka and 1 in Changhai (how reliable is this?). I don't think his fleet has set sail yet. Since he hasn't taken the Gilberts, New Guinea or Palembang yet, I don't think his target will be OZ or India. I have patrols looking out though. The obvious target is PH or the West Coast.
I still think he will go for the west coast. If he attacks PH with all force he has already lost the war. It will costs him 3 months at least to take PH. After that he will be out of resources and not able to take DEI anymore. The west coast apparently is difficult to take. You won't here me saying yet he can't take it. I know a lot of people failed doing this. We will have to see.
Anyway, PH is pretty well defended (attachment). I will not retreat any troops from there. The 2nd USMC division, currently stationed at Canton, will go back to the west coast though. There is no use for them at Canton. If Marky attacks Canton with his huge invasion force, they will not be able to put up a figth anyway. With the original 2 divs at the westcoast and the 32nd div and 2 USMC div, I have an OK defense force at the west coast soon. With the 180 days reinforcement and some additional troops, it will be extremely tough for him. I DO NOT WANT TO BE THAT GUY THAT LOST THE WEST COAST!!!!!!!

I would not worry about losing the West Coast - just spread out your available forces in all the major cities and get the Medium bombers ready. You get 6 months of reinforcements if he move close - look at your reinforcement list and see what is within 180 days right now - it will be a lot.

Where the heck are the mines at Pearl Harbor? You should have at least 3-4 thousand there and another 1 or 2 thousand at every other base in the HI.

I lost a lot of US miners in the battle of Johnston island. They were suprised by KB. The others were damaged in this attack or are still damaged from the 7 december Pearl Harbor raid. There are simply none operational in this theather. I'm afraid I have to do without mines.

edit: I found some. The ML Oglala is operational again. Let the mining begin!

Good, Keokuks carry 500 mines, let it mine PH for 6-8 turns and then see about mining the closest ports next to it. My feeling is that if he is making an all out attempt at Hawaii, you really just need to hold out for 3 or 4 months and he will be out of most everything like supply, oil, resources, etc.

Marky is still loading his troops at Osaka. He still has over 600 ships there. I have dozens of submarines patrolling between Midway and Dutch Harbor. Some more are posted near Osaka and between the Marianas and Wake. If he goes south my Catalina's will spot him. There are still troops en route to Osaka, according to the intelligence report. It will take a while before the battle starts. The 2nd USMC is close to home. All AKs and APs at the Westcoast are loading supplies for PH. Mining operations have started. 'DEI is turned into a fortress. So has PH. Let the battle begin......

That's some detailed intel.  You're right, something big is brewing.  Are you still planning to go on the offensive a bit in the DEI - IE, to expand your perimeter somewhat?

First I want to know what Marky is going to do. I will keep the current position in Java. At some point he has to go for it. Defenitely if he goes for PH. Probably also if he goes for the west coast. I don't think he has enough resources to finish the war (even if he would be able to do it). With all his troops occupied in the central pacific, I can easily make the 2nd UK division and the 6th and 7th OZ divisions available. They will be backed up by the British fleet and the USAFFE air force. I'm not sure where I'm going to counterattack. Preferably, I want to force him to withdraw troops, ships and planes from the main front. I have to recon a bit more for this......

Well Tekk, at this point I'm starting to wonder whether Marky has the balls to continue this game. Haven't heard from him yet since he has his computer back on line. Perhaps he has realized that his plans were too bold......

I haven't heard from Marky in a long time and since he is playing and searching for other opponents again, I assumed this game has come to an end. Currently, I've my hands full on other games and I'm not spending time on this one anymore.

I decided to take a look in his AAR. He indeed was going for the USA. I was right after all and most of the people on this tread, telling me that the USA would be really bold, actually knew that this were his plans. At least it makes me feel good, that I was able to see through his plans directly from the beginning.

If he would have continued the game, it would have been him who was up for a suprise instead of me. I was already retreating my troops to the US. Too bad, that Marky is not committing to this game. Perhaps he realized that things were doomed..............
