But we can live with a 2:1 kill rate. Nothing to chear but we can live with it at the moment... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on Akyab , at 30,29 Allied aircraft Buffalo I x 9 Blenheim I x 22 Blenheim IV x 6 Hudson I x 18 No Allied losses Port supply hits 3 Aircraft Attacking: 3 x Buffalo I bombing at 2000 feet Trying to get some squadrons to exp levels where you can use them (which means 60+). I lose another 5 Tomahawks from the AVG and then they break off! Break off? Itīs their first encounter of enemy fighters and they break off?? They lose 10 fighters today and take down a single enemy fighter... 10:1? Good kill rate for the AVG... The Oscars on escort are doing far better than Zeroes on sweep. I expected to be massively attacked and therefor I expected to suffer. But with such more or less small attacks I thought I could hurt my enemy a bit more. The fighters will be in position for one more turn, then the majority of the combat troops from Rangoon will be evacuated... We also see 3 reported CAs 6 hexes South of Rangoon so I expect to see a night surface combat next turn. 2 CAs with 4 DDs in a TF, two PTs in a TF, a MSW in a TF AND a single BB in a TF that is coming in next turn (the one I forgot to include with the DDs in a TF... ) are awaiting any incoming enemy. I already see my BB being surprised and sunk by long lances... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF at 21,67 Allied aircraft CW-21B Demon x 3 T.IVa x 3 Martin 139 x 3 Allied aircraft losses T.IVa: 1 damaged Martin 139: 1 damaged Japanese Ships DD Natsugumo DD Samidare Aircraft Attacking: 3 x T.IVa launching torpedoes at 200 feet 3 x Martin 139 bombing at 1000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF at 21,67 Allied aircraft Martin 139 x 10 No Allied losses Japanese Ships CL Jintsu, Bomb hits 2 DD Natsugumo CL Naka Aircraft Attacking: 3 x Martin 139 bombing at 1000 feet we continue to bomb the bullet proof CLs... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF at 21,67 Allied aircraft Brewster 339D x 2 T.IVa x 2 Martin 139 x 21 No Allied losses Japanese Ships DD Yudachi CL Jintsu DD Samidare CL Naka, Bomb hits 2 AP Yasukuni Maru, Bomb hits 2, on fire Aircraft Attacking: 3 x Martin 139 bombing at 1000 feet same here, most of the bombers went after the CLs that they canīt hurt anyway. The two bomb hits on the AP didnīt really hurt it... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF at 30,73 Allied aircraft Hudson I x 3 No Allied losses Japanese Ships DD Hayashio Aircraft Attacking: 3 x Hudson I bombing at 6000 feet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Manila at 43,52 Japanese aircraft A5M4 Claude x 6 No Japanese losses Allied Ships PT PT-34, Shell hits 4 Aircraft Attacking: 2 x A5M4 Claude attacking at 100 feet looks like a baby carrier is refuelling in the South Philipines. The shell hits must be FOW as the PT has now 1 point of sys dam. Itīs the last PT in the Philipines... they fought VERY WELL! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Rangoon at 29,34 Japanese aircraft Ki-30 Ann x 8 Allied aircraft P-40B Tomahawk x 13 P-40E Warhawk x 11 Japanese aircraft losses Ki-30 Ann: 1 destroyed the Anns come in again, but the low morale causes them to turn back immediately... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF at 11,75 Japanese aircraft A5M4 Claude x 13 B5N Kate x 14 No Japanese losses Allied Ships AK Hosang AK Empire Mist, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage AK Empire Barracuda, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage Aircraft Attacking: 2 x B5N Kate launching torpedoes at 200 feet damn, a baby carrier was spotted West of Java but I forgot an empty cargo TF that would have had no problem to evade the carrier. The 20 ships of the TF are now scattered into 2 and 3 ship TFs of which most will try to flee to Perth with the others going towards Broome and Darwin... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day Air attack on TF, near Rangoon at 29,34 Japanese aircraft G3M Nell x 4 Ki-43-Ic Oscar x 12 Allied aircraft P-40B Tomahawk x 13 P-40E Warhawk x 11 Japanese aircraft losses G3M Nell: 1 destroyed, 2 damaged Ki-43-Ic Oscar: 1 damaged Allied aircraft losses P-40B Tomahawk: 1 destroyed, 1 damaged P-40E Warhawk: 2 damaged Allied Ships CA Exeter Aircraft Attacking: 3 x G3M Nell launching torpedoes at 200 feet the Oscars come in again, take down an AVG fighter - then AVG breaks off. A PA division is shredded due to the attack. The low casualties are really misleading as a retreat causes huge losses... In a couple of days the last reinforcement at Bataan arrives and then Iīm considering to retreat from Clark into Manila while the other troops will still block the units in the wooden hex South of Manila. The only problem I see is if Hortlund decides to let my troops just rot and he only uses a brigade or two to block me and use my troops as training targets for his airforce training programm... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Malacca Japanese Deliberate attack Attacking force 22312 troops, 253 guns, 17 vehicles, Assault Value = 862 Defending force 14949 troops, 121 guns, 3 vehicles, Assault Value = 294 Japanese max assault: 504 - adjusted assault: 280 Allied max defense: 266 - adjusted defense: 197 Japanese assault odds: 1 to 1 (fort level 0) Japanese Assault reduces fortifications to 0 Japanese ground losses: 239 casualties reported Guns lost 8 Vehicles lost 1 Allied ground losses: 73 casualties reported Guns lost 4 ohh ohh... a 1:1 is not good news. Hopefully Hortlund will rest his troops next turn. My units are ordered already to get out of the hex and retreat to the South, which will take TWO turns... wow, looks like I made it possible to see Malaya, Burma, the Philipines and Java being lost at the end of December... not to talk about the Changsha area... good god - I really suck... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at 43,53 Japanese Bombardment attack Attacking force 5958 troops, 205 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 374 Defending force 29311 troops, 229 guns, 111 vehicles, Assault Value = 673 Allied ground losses: 102 casualties reported Guns lost 1 Vehicles lost 3 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Pagan Japanese Deliberate attack Attacking force 1300 troops, 0 guns, 90 vehicles, Assault Value = 51 Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 0 Japanese max assault: 51 - adjusted assault: 53 Allied max defense: 0 - adjusted defense: 1 Japanese assault odds: 53 to 1 (fort level 0) Japanese forces CAPTURE Pagan base !!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Hollandia Japanese Shock attack Attacking force 548 troops, 3 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 16 Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 0 Japanese max assault: 28 - adjusted assault: 5 Allied max defense: 0 - adjusted defense: 1 Japanese assault odds: 5 to 1 (fort level 0) Japanese forces CAPTURE Hollandia base !!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Batavia Allied Bombardment attack Attacking force 6626 troops, 82 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 186 Defending force 10213 troops, 111 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 213 Japanese ground losses: 19 casualties reported Guns lost 2 a single brigade was landed. Wonder if it will be enough to shock attack me out, or if he will bring more units. Donīt know what terrain Batavia is but I hope itīs wooden as we donīt have forts to cause some trouble... The only reason we have still "a lot" of troops at Batavia is the fact that we want to try to damage as many oil, ressource points as possible. 100 damaged ressource points are worse for the Japanese than one or two weeks more fighting in Java... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ground combat at Malang Japanese Deliberate attack Attacking force 5607 troops, 10 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 145 Defending force 0 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 0 Japanese max assault: 80 - adjusted assault: 21 Allied max defense: 0 - adjusted defense: 1 Japanese assault odds: 21 to 1 (fort level 0) Japanese forces CAPTURE Malang base !!! Only parts of the 48th division were landed at Malang. With the 100 assault points at Kragen the Japanese have now around 250 assault points in the Soerabaja area. We have around 150 with lots of base forces and obsolete aircrafts. What we fear the most are IJN BB bombardments of Soerabaja... The air losses of this turn. As you can see, the Japanese lost more planes today. The fighter losses were 2:1 in favour of the Japanese which seems not to be as bad also, but our fighters are worn down quickly, whith the AVG already being completely useless due to low morale. Why it has such a low morale, I donīt know... perhaps being set to training 0% in India is a morale killer....
