My British carriers survived the day! Hortlund stated that he didnīt want to enter my LBA umbrella! Iīm surprised because 1) he was under my LBA umbrella all the time (even in a base hex where he only has half of his cap) and 2) because my "never hit anything" bombers scared him...

Iīm happy with this turn...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 03/25/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ASW attack at 132,81

Japanese Ships
SS I-122, hits 6 <----- mine layer sub

Allied Ships
DD Sims
DD Preston
DD O'Brien
DD Perkins

this is two dozen hexes South West of Los Angeles, I have no idea what a mine layer sub is doing there... one real hit, 5 near misses, a loooong way home - could mean trouble for the sub...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 29,76

Japanese Ships
DD Oboro
APD APD-39
APD APD-36
APD APD-35
DD Hatsuharu

Allied Ships
SS Pollack, hits 5

torps hit Oboro but fail to detonate... Pollack receives 2 real hits and 3 near misses by those damn APDs! She tries to make Darwin with floatation in the high 60s... could be a sub that is lost in this area, not just damaged...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and here comes this turnīs highlight:

Night Time Surface Combat, near Koepang at 28,77

Japanese Ships
DD Ikazuchi, Shell hits 21, and is sunk
DD Inazuma, Shell hits 15, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
DD Shirayuki, Shell hits 5, on fire
APD APD-34, Shell hits 3, on fire
APD APD-38, Shell hits 1

Allied Ships
BB Prince of Wales, Shell hits 1
BC Repulse
CA Dorsetshire
DD Electra
DD Encounter
DD Fortune, Shell hits 1
DD Panther

Hortlund ate our bait and moved KB to the West from Koepang, guessing our carriers would retreat there. They retreated East, where force Z was already waiting to go in to wreck havoc with the spotted TFs there and perhaps catch one of the out in never ending BB bombardment TFs. First target is an ASW TF that is shot to pieces with small calibre gun fire. BC Repulse hits DD Inazuma with a torp! The torps launched by the Japanese miss their targets. The British know how to fight at night. Banzai! ooops, I mean hurrey!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Time Surface Combat, near Koepang at 28,77

Japanese Ships
DD Shirayuki, Shell hits 23, and is sunk
APD APD-34, on fire
APD APD-38, Shell hits 9, and is sunk

Allied Ships
BB Prince of Wales
BC Repulse, Shell hits 1
CA Dorsetshire
DD Electra, Shell hits 1, on fire
DD Encounter
DD Fortune
DD Panther

another round with another DD sunk and one of the ASW value 10 APDs sunk also!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Time Surface Combat, near Koepang at 28,77

Japanese Ships
DD Asakaze, Shell hits 21, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
DD Tachikaze, Shell hits 6, and is sunk
AK Nissyu Maru, Shell hits 1, on fire
AK Tamagawa Maru, Shell hits 17, and is sunk

Allied Ships
BB Prince of Wales, Shell hits 1, Torpedo hits 1, on fire
BC Repulse
CA Dorsetshire, Shell hits 2
DD Electra, on fire
DD Encounter
DD Fortune
DD Panther

then we encounter a supply TF escorted by two DDs. Both IJN DDs launch torps but miss first. One is then shot to pieces when the engagement goes on at 2000 yards range... this is when Prince of Wales is hit by a torp, she retires with medium damage (sys in the 20s and nearly no more floatation).

While there were 4 or more TFs all the last turns we are still happy to shoot up those DDs. Hortlund stated with his email I must be REALLY desperate!

this is what I answered:

Desperate? Why should I? I told you before, there wasnīt yet a situation in our campaign that made me feel desperate. You took your objectives in the SRA, not much I could do about it – I was happy with the damage done. You took empty bases in the Pacific, not much I could do about it at that time. You stopped in the Pacific, so those bases arenīt doing you any good IMO and you donīt really effect my plans there – now the rest of the Pacific is safe. Then we came to the point where I told you that there are no easy targets left and when I look at Koepang at the moment then Iīm more than happy that you lost something like a dozen DDs (I hate losing DDs as the Japanese) and the base hasnīt fallen yet. It will fall, no doubt but it was surely not an easy target and your losses will be “not nice” just to take a base on Timor.

I just completely shot up an ASW TF and sunk another two DDs, thatīs fine with me. You just have to live with a torp hit from 2000 yards range that does light damage. Iīm happy you took the bait and retired KB to the West while Force Z came from the East. Would have been nice to meet one of your never ending BB bombardment TFs. Thatīs the only thing that concerned me so far, a dozen BB bombardments in 2 weeks. But thatīs fine with me also, I will have more than 3 times as many BBs as the Japanese that will shuffle in an out all the time wrecking havoc with every base in range of a minor port where hula hula girls will manufacture 16 inch shells.

I really enjoy our game, lots of action all the time up to now!

I looked at Koepang closely this turn as the damage seems to be not repaired at all and I discovered that there are only 11 eng (from 185) and 0 eng vehicles (from 23) left that are not disabled... this all from BB bombardments only. Something like 20.000 troops disabled due to BB bombardments...

Hortlund is flying LRCAP with 3!! daitais every day, probably from Kendari - range 8 hexes, but he never seems to really suffer from op losses, not even when a dozen fighters are damaged... thatīs a mystery for me... Iīm playing the Allied and seem to suffer more from op losses than the Japanese...

we lose 11 bombers again today, thatīs just not worth it. All we achieved is to damage a couple of transports and sink a DD... Hortlund is happy that he lost half a dozen DDs for the torp hit on PoW that did only light damage last turn! Well, Iīm happy with that too!

I checked the sunken ship list today and the Japanese have already lost 28 DDs!! They also lost 6 cruisers so far. We lost 7 cruisers and 20 DDs! Is he really thinking that his losses arenīt hurting him? Iīm confident, there are 28 DDs less and my subs will be happy about that...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF, near Madras at 18,21

Japanese aircraft
G4M1 Betty x 9

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M1 Betty: 1 damaged

Allied Ships
TK Empire Coral
TK Empire Amethyst

Aircraft Attacking:
1 x G4M1 Betty bombing at 6000 feet

long range Betty strike from Rangoon! I was shocked, we didnīt have CAP over Madras... Now Madras is capped against such unescorted strikes...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Time Surface Combat, near Akyab at 30,29

Japanese Ships
DD Amagiri, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
AK Shinamogawa Maru

Allied Ships
PT PT-36
PT PT-37, Shell hits 2, and is sunk
PT PT-38
PT PT-40

I donīt know whatīs wrong with the naval movement. The PTs were set to patrol do not retire, they even arrived at night, but the Japanese TF retreated. The TF came back at daylight and my PTs were still there... We sink Amagiri for the loss of one PT and are happy about that. But itīs still strange that my PTs stayed there the whole day, I checked the TF and it was set to retire...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Manila

Japanese max assault: 899 - adjusted assault: 346

Allied max defense: 253 - adjusted defense: 733

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 3)

Japanese ground losses:
603 casualties reported
Guns lost 7
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
207 casualties reported
Guns lost 6

Hortlund asks me if I am desperate?? If Iīm desperate, what is he then? Unloaded 100 more assault points today and orders a shock attack of the troops that were already there?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Koepang

Allied Bombardment attack

Allied aircraft losses
Sea Hurricane Ib: 1 damaged
Hurricane IIb: 12 damaged
Kittyhawk I: 1 damaged
P-40B Tomahawk: 7 damaged

I have been waiting for a strike that is coming from Amboina for a long time already. This turn the Nells came in UNESCORTED! Amboina is 11 hexes from Darwin and therefore my main port in the area is a really dangerous place for both my fighters and ships in port. We do have a lot of flak and fighters but our ships there are surely not immune. I have no idea what Hortlund was thinking sending the Nells in unescorted but he said he made a fault so I guess he had the settings of his fighters wrong. 100+ fighters are even in Nikmod able to take out an unescorted strike of 40 bombers. No Nell made it to attack the port, a dozen turned back...

here are todayīs air losses:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on 2nd Australian Cavalry Division, at 28,77

the war god was on the Japanese side this turn...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 03/29/42

APD APD-1
APD APD-2

Allied Ships
BC Repulse, Shell hits 4, Torpedo hits 1
CA Dorsetshire, Shell hits 9
DD Encounter, Shell hits 1
DD Panther, Shell hits 2, on fire

we move in Repulse covered by a heavy cruiser but the fight isnīt going as expected. First we are surprised by the ASW TF but the long lance attack doesnīt hit our ships. But then the WITP naval combat routine goes crazy once again and my BC acts like a PT closing in to 3000 yards. Then it wasnīt hard to hit her with a torp (just like PoW was hit at 3000 yards... ).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Allied Ships

another round but we only hit with small calibre gun fire. There are several other TFs in the hex but obviously this ASW TF doesnīt make it possible to break through to the invasion TF...

63 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.

B5N Kate x 90

Japanese aircraft losses
D3A Val: 2 damaged
B5N Kate: 1 damaged

Allied Ships
BC Repulse, Bomb hits 1, Torpedo hits 4, on fire, heavy damage

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x D3A Val bombing at 2000 feet
1 x B5N Kate launching torpedoes at 200 feet

all played in Hortlunds hands this turn. The last turns he stayed North to be out of range of our LBA, my TF wasnīt spotted, but still he moved 2 hexes further South this turn. This wouldnīt have been a problem because even then, my TF would be 5 hexes South of Koepang only in bomb range of KB. Hortlund can thank his brave DD that was able to put a torp into Repulse before it was sunk. This way we ended up 3 hexes South of Koepang, in perfect torp range. The outcome was clear when the attack popped up on my screen. As a side note, Derby with my 200 bombers was clouded...

This is the first major vessel we lose, so we can live with it, but of course Iīm not happy about it. But thatīs war! We had a plan and a little fact that wasnīt working as supposed makes our plan not working anymore. It was just all about this single torp, same fate as with the torp hit on the Bisamarck.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Air attack on TF at 29,80

Japanese aircraft
G3M Nell x 6

No Japanese losses

Allied Ships
BC Repulse, on fire, heavy damage

The old British battlecruiser was sunk today after being attacked by an enemy carrier task force...

HMS Repulse (Battlecruiser, 1916-1941)
HMS Repulse, a 26,500-ton Renown class battlecruiser, was built at Clydebank, Scotland. Completed in August 1916, she joined the Grand Fleet following post-trials modifications and operated in the North Sea for the remainder of World War I. The light protection of this class of two battlecruisers was a considerable cause for concern and, soon after the Armistice, Repulse received an extensive refit. This significantly increased her armor, and her displacement, which rose some six-thousand tons. The work was completed in 1922, after which the ship began a peacetime career of fleet operations and long-distance cruises.

In 1933-36, Repulse was again modernized, emerging with improved deck armor, a hangar and catapult for aircraft, and a greatly increased anti-aircraft gun battery. She operated with the Home Fleet in the North Sea and Atlantic during the first two years of the Second World War, taking part in the pursuit of the German battleship Bismarck in May 1941. Later in the year she was sent to the Far East, accompanying the new battleship Prince of Wales. The two ships arrived at Singapore just before Japan began the Pacific War. As soon as hostilities commenced, both steamed northwards to intercept a reported invasion force. While returning to Singapore on 10 December 1941, Repulse and Prince of Wales were attacked by Japanese high-level bombers and torpedo planes. Repulse was moderately damaged by bombs early in the action and was later hit by several torpedoes. After receiving this heavy underwater damage, she sank rapidly, followed less than an hour later by the Prince of Wales.

Knowing that strafing PT boats causes the synch bug most time, nevertheless Steve decided that it would be a good idea to do that... We are completely out of synch, in my replay Koepang is still mine whereas in the REAL replay it fell easily to the Japanese. Not just do we have synch issues now, but also I didnīt get the Japanese (real) combat report and while Steve has a perfect overview of what is happening Iīm completely BLIND now...

hey, thatīs no problem... weīre just having our carriers in 8 hexes range of KB and we donīt know what is happening for days as it seems the synch issues didnīt start just last turn... This is really concerning to me, would KB pop up next to my carriers now then I wouldnīt even know that. I would only see it when I check my CV TF with all my ships sunk...

Hi Castor

It's not quite as bad as that.  For the most part spotting and reconning is not tooo much of a problem with sync - the real problem comes when you take damage to a sub otr something and you don't even know it's been hit.

unfortunately also the spottings during the replay arenīt "real" when youīre out of synch. This turn I have spotted and bombed ships at Koepang that werenīt even there anymore. So when weīre out of synch and I see KB at Koepang because e.g. CV Hyriu is spotted by a Hudson there, it can be up to 10 hexes at another point of the map in "real". This means if I spot it in my out of synch replay at Kendari, it could be near Darwin in "real". This is absolutely hindering my moves at the moment.

All the naval movement orders remain the same, all that changes is thier execution.  So ships in one version will be in the same place during the out of sync view (they may be 1 hex out due to the way the random roll works for speeds not divisible by 5) but it's not possible for them to be 10 hexes away because the orders haven't changed.  Therefore if you bombed Hiryu at Koepang in your replay, it was there during the Japanese replay, but you just didn't spot it/attack it.

It's true the spottings aren't real, however the way detection levels work if you spotted it in the real (Japanese) replay, it will appear on your map during your order phase.  Actually if you are out of sync, the allies get two bites of the cherry - If you spot ships during the real replay but don't spot them during the fake (allied) replay they appear on the map.  Plus you can spot ships during their replay which they did not spot during the Japanese replay.  These won't appear during the map during the aliied order phase, but you will know they are there.  Not much of an advantage, but there you go.

how can it be then that Iīve seen ships being torped, bombed, sunk... a dozen hexes away from where they really were?

Without having seen it, I can't say (from what you are reporting, I don't think I'd be able to give a decent explanation even if I did see it).  However it wouldn't be down to sync.  Sync affects only the dice rolls (spotting, combat, air strikes etc), the starting positions and orders remain constant and as there is very little random element in movement, the post movement positions of units won't change much between versions.

we brought also the US carriers to the party, but once again we were only a couple of days late and Hortlund is really happy about that. We have now the British torp bombers and the US aircraft available to hurt anything that is within range. As mentioned before, KB (or better say incomplete KB as Kaga and Akagi seem to be missing) has already retired as well as the IJN battlewaggons so we attack an empty convoy but CA Kinugusa and CL Yura were included there to act as a bomb magnet against LBA attacks. Well, they acted good and Kinugusa canīt be penetrated by the 500lb bombs dropped by the SBDs and TBDs. That was amazing as I thought 500lb bombs would hurt CAs in Nikmod... Even CL Yura was hit by several 500lb bombs that couldnīt penetrate the belt armor. But in the end the British torp bombers made short process of the 2 cruisers! And we bag another half a dozen transports.

I donīt know if I can consider my Koepang operation as a success as in the end I lost the base, seeing 2 Aus bgds, half a dozen base forces and 3 small Aus inf units surrender, all in all some 30.000 troops. And I lost BC Repulse to KB. I came late with my carriers to do real damage, the 2 cruisers and the dozen transports today is a consolation prize. My carriers are now 4 hexes South of Koepang and my recon told me that there are already some 200 aircraft at the base but the base should be HEAVILY damaged. It was at 100 port, 100 airbase and 80+ airfield dam when I lost it and perhaps my eng increased the airfield damage even more. Nevertheless Hortlund has flown in an armada of fighters and probably torpedoe bombers. I told him I would be amazed if his aircraft could take off such an airfield, Iīm already amazed that they can land there. Nearly no op losses to the Japanese, WITP has something wrong here - try to land 200 aircraft at an airfield that is 80+ damaged...

So I had the choice to retire my carriers to Darwin (8 hexes) where we would have also 100+ land based fighters on Cap or stay in the Koepang area to either attack more shipping OR torch the Japanese aircraft on the ground if they canīt launch. I decided to attack the airfield! I guess this is a fault and Iīm toast tomorrow but I really think it shouldnīt be possible to launch a strike from such an airfield. But probably we will see 100% of the aircraft launch in a perfectly coordinated strike...

A rough guess about the Japanese losses so far:

1 CA, 1 CL, a dozen+ DDs/APDs, some 20 transports and 50+ aircraft. If I also count the 30 Nells shot down over Darwin then it would be 80+ aircraft.

We lost some 30.000 men, BC Repulse, 40 aircraft and 1 sub. I would call that a real Allied disaster in the real war, as losing 30.000 men was devastating I think.

Japanese heavy cruiser Kinugasa was sunk by a combined strike of US and British carrier aircraft!!

Kinugasa (Cruiser, 1927-1942)
Kinugasa, an 8300-ton Aoba class heavy cruiser built at Kobe, Japan, was commissioned in September 1927. Her early service was as flagship of the Fifth Squadron (Sentai), and she operated for virtually her entire career with that unit and the Sixth and Seventh Squadrons. In 1928, she became the first Japanese combat ship to carry an aircraft catapult. Kinugasa served off China in 1928 and 1929 and on several occasions during the 1930s. Placed in reserve in September 1937, she was extensively modernized and did not recommission until the end of October 1940.

Kinugasa was assigned to the Sixth Squadron during the year leading up to the start of the Pacific War. In December 1941, the war's first month, she took part in the seizure of the American outposts at Guam and Wake. She participated in the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942 and in the heavy fighting to retake Guadalcanal later in the year. During the latter campaign, she took part in the Battle of Savo Island on 9 August, the Battle of Cape Esperance on 13 October and in the shelling of Guadalcanal's Henderson Field on 14 November 1942. While withdrawing on the morning after that bombardment, Kinugasa was sunk by planes based at Henderson Field and on the aircraft carrier Enterprise (CV-6).

In the same attack on a convoy off Dili also the Japanese light cruiser Yura was sunk!

Yura (Light Cruiser, 1923-1942)
Yura, a 5570-ton Nagara class light cruiser, was built at Sasebo, Japan. Commissioned March 1923, she served with cruiser squadrons and as a submarine squadron flagship during the years leading up to World War II, operating in Japanese home waters and frequently off China. In 1930 Yura served as a test platform for aircraft catapults installed in front of her bridge and, in 1933-34 received a rotating catapult amidships as well as a new mainmast to support an aircraft derrick. She took part in combat with the Chinese at Shanghai in the first part of 1932 and again during 1937-39 as Sino-Japanese hostilities burst into full-scale war.

In 1940, Yura and her subordinate submarines moved into the central Pacific as Japan extended her preparations against an increasingly possible war with the United States. The next year, they went to the South China area, from which they supported landings in Malaya, Borneo and Sarawak after the Pacific War began in December 1941. During the first four months of 1942, she operated off Indo-China, participated in anti-shipping operations off Singapore and in the Indian Ocean and supported the invasions of Java and Samatra. Yura, serving as a destroyer squadron flagship, helped screen the Midway Occupation Force during the Battle of Midway in early June.

Two months later, after Allied forces landed in the southern Solomon Islands to began the long and difficult Guadalcanal Campaign, Yura was sent to Truk to support the Japanese counterattack. She took part in the Battle of the Eastern Solomons on 24 August 1942 and was slightly damaged by U.S. B-17 bombers off Shortland Island on 25 September. When the Japanese prepared a major effort to retake Guadalcanal in mid-October, she covered reinforcement operations. On the 25th of that month, Yura was leading a group of destroyers toward Guadalcanal as an "attack unit" when she was hit by SBD bombers and seriously damaged. Her speed greatly reduced, she retreated for several hours and was then hit again and stopped. After her crew had been taken off, Yura was scuttled by her consorts' torpedos and gunfire.

now we know for sure that KB isnīt complete as some carriers are operating in the Pacific, raiding my shipping lanes. Hortlund has again luck on his side as this is the BEST possible hex he could have been in as exactly here heīs in 5 hexes range of 3 TFs whereas most of the Pacific is empty anyway... nothing serious though, we will lose the USMC raider btn with a couple of AKs and TKs...

Hortlund told me he would use his Allied carriers to guard his shipping lanes but I think they do far more damage where they are now, even more when I can be sure that KB would have massive problems taking on my carriers when KB isnīt complete and I have the British carriers also in the area.

We had the chance to sink 20+ ships at Koepang today as we moved in the carriers again, but guess what! Yes, of course the weather god is ONCE AGAIN Japanese. Both in the morning and the afternoon, my carriers were clouded! Only the carriers, not a single base in the area of the whole screen. ONLY my carriers had thunderstorms above... Thank you advanced weather effects... really advanced...

Ground combat at Manila

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 177105 troops, 1849 guns, 50 vehicles, Assault Value = 3266

Defending force 48475 troops, 214 guns, 43 vehicles, Assault Value = 1092

Japanese max assault: 3237 - adjusted assault: 3791

Allied max defense: 987 - adjusted defense: 429

Japanese assault odds: 8 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Manila base !!!

Japanese ground losses:
2530 casualties reported
Guns lost 141
Vehicles lost 3

Allied ground losses:

After brave fights against superior Japanese forces and after inflicting heavy casulties along the attackers, Manila finally surrendered today. All the base force fragments I evacuated turned into the parent unit and are now rebuilding in Northern Australia.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 04/09/42

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Night Time Surface Combat, near Koepang at 28,77

Japanese Ships
DD Hayashio
DD Hagikaze, Shell hits 1
DD Hatsushima, Shell hits 1
DD Minazuki
DD Yakaze, Shell hits 3, on fire
DD Nokaze
DD Kiji, Shell hits 2, on fire

CL Boise, Shell hits 2
DD Craven, Shell hits 10, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
DD Clark, Shell hits 6, on fire
DD Express, Shell hits 3, on fire

we despatched our best ships from our carrier TFs to go in to Koepang but have to pay for it. We are surprised, a DD is shot to pieces, CA Indianapolis takes minor damage. Always amazing again how dangerous a TF of DDs alone can be, no matter what you send in, night naval battles in WITP mostly look like PT boat charges...

already thought we would have lost in this turn we manage to engage a second time, this time we surprise the Japanese but do no damage during the surprise. Then one DD is sunk with heavy damage to another. Looks like a draw now, slightly towards a victory of the Japanese, but the day isnīt over yet! Of course all of the dozen+ cargoes left Koepang today... yesterday bad weather over my carriers, today the ships left...

right after the suicide of my TBDs the rest of the strike goes in finishing off the IJN DDs. No strike aircraft of the British CV TF took off. No problem, as those arenīt armored targets and bombs can sink them. It would have been super annoying against armored targets as a strike of nearly 200 aircraft would then have done nearly no damage. 6 IJN DDs lost today ramping up the DD losses for the Japanese to nearly 40. Hortlund said his DDs are worth nothing anyway as they suck as ASW platforms. He will rely on air ASW and APDs (of which he has perhaps 7 or 8 left). Serves my subs well, as I think that his DDs should be his number one ASW platform in the future.

Day Air attack on TF at 119,103

we wonīt put up Cap if not necessary. The Japanese sweeps would just shoot our squadrons to pieces... If we will spot bombers in Northern Burma then we will take our planes further back or will rely on heavy flak defense...

Airbase supply hits 12
Runway hits 79

Aircraft Attacking:
10 x Ki-21 Sally bombing at 11000 feet

then a HUGE raid from Rangoon at max range destroyed the airbase. The ridicoulos fact about this attack is that Imphal was clouded and all my airmissions there were cancelled due to bad weather. The ordered strike on Myitkina was grounded but the Japanese planes can fly in... working as designed... poor design... In the end we lose 19 aircraft today to 15 Japanese aircraft that were lost all over the map. I was wrong in thinking that my flak would do so much damage that my opponent would think twice to come back. The flak fire was just pathetic...

we spotted this TF moving towards Timor from the North so we set a lot of bombers on nav attack. The result was that the TF wasnīt spotted at all in the morning, in the afternoon 60% of the bombers failed to locate the target and then 67 bombers attack sinking probably 2 medium sized APs. Hortlund completely forgot about this TF and if we would have attacked it with force both in the morning and the afternoon, the whole TF would have been gone with the loaded troops... oh well, the small achievements will lead to total victory... the bombers will stand down tomorrow as Iīm sure there will be 50 angry Zeroes above the rest of the convoy... a sub will visit the place though...

Steve just told me he counted up all his ship losses. At the moment my intel shows 220 ships sunk, a dozen more will follow in the next days that are heavily damaged at the moment.

He said he lost something about 140 AKs/APs (mostly APs ) and around 40 DDs! There are also 2 CAs and 6 CLs.

So far Iīm really happy with his ship losses as my losses are at around 180, biggest loss was the tragedy about the loss of BC Repulse. Even though he will rely on air ASW I still think that losing 40 DDs at this stage of the war will be something he will feel in the future.

40 dds gone by 4/42 is pretty staggering.

Just for confirmation, your Hudson pilots suck.

we spotted this supply convoy coming from the South going to Akyab and it seemed there wasnīt LRCAP the turn before as Akyab had a high number of fighters in the air. So we decided to risk our Marauder BG. Now I regret I havenīt set ALL my bombers on nav attack but we are still happy. An AK and a PG probably sunk with a couple more damaged. One B-26 was lost to ops.
