You'll definitely get the New Game back today. I should get CHS and IS2 installed and set up this afternoon too. I am just pricing up the options for a final fix. It's looking like it might be almost as cheap to get another tower from Dell, but I'll have to do the costings against the hassle of me doing the changeovers using my normal methods of trial and error and much swearing and shouting...
You could always buy a Gateway - Umm - I mean an Acer...
It's a shame you do not live closer Mike. It would be a five minute job for you!

Are Gateway any good? I have seen a system that seems to have everything I need for a reasonable price.
" Why in the world hasn't Matrix aquired Avalon Hill and turned its games into computer versions? How about a Matrix version of A3R!"
Probably because Hasbro is asking way too much for AH and/or its intellectual property. They purchased that company to get hold of the family/leisure games and have been holding out for mor emoney on selling the wargames (except for ASL, which I'll talk about momentarily).
"Or, for that matter, ASL? :)"
Curt Schilling's (yes, the ace baseball pitcher) MultiManPublishing purchased the rights to ASL a few years back and has been continuing to develop that game. I don't know if they only own the rights to the paper version and Hasbro has maintained the rights to the digital version, but something tells me that is likely to be the case.
Actually Paradox owns the rights to a ASL computer game.

I just bought an Acer a couple of months ago from Newegg. So far, I've been pretty happy with it (even though it came with a virus called Vista pre-installed).

Well,i'm still waiting for WAR in Russia 2....but i guess that's not the case
One fine day it might come true Gen.Hoepner...
At the hoepage of 2by3 (http://2by3games.com) there is the game "USSR 1941-1945" mentioned, which appears to be a successor or "War in Russia". But unfortunately no news on that for more than a year.
Maybe this means they are coding like hell and will surprise us soon, but then I dont believe in Santa Claus anymore.

I have it on really good authority that we'll all find out in December. And since whatever it is, it probably won't be exactly what we personally want, why worry about it? Just be happy that something is coming and we haven't been forgotten.

I have to be honest , I'm so annoyed with Matrix release of the Harpoon Comanders edition and the many months of delays with that , I don't have a lot of faith in their promises on something that they give for free. I'd rather not have them go through their usual build up of making promises and then excuse when they don't deliver. I'd rather they just say "here it is". As it is , I feel like Charlie Brown , waiting for Lucy to yank the football again.

Yeah.
The day they spread my ashes is coming soon enough too. You don't see my trying to push that date up any (ok, maybe I could drink less...)

Hi Carl,
In any system you buy I always recommend you go with a company that provides great customer support and a warranty - 4 years perferably. I've found Gateway support to be top-notch here in California - how it is in other countries/states is, of course, another matter. Also, Gateway personal computers were bought out by Acer recently. I haven't had much business with Acer products so I would ask around as to their customer support.
Dells, from my experience, are very good machines but my last few experiences with them had customer service farmed out to India. It took a while to go thru the channels to convince tech support to take me up to level II support. I also had a few problems with accents during phone conversations - it was just difficult to understand them when speaking english. A better way for Dell support seems to be to chat with them online. You can grant them access to your PC and they can at least see/experience the problem you are experiencing *IF* you can actually boot your PC and access the web (which is not always the case).

GOOD LORD NO! It's only the high alcohol content in our systems keeping all those nasty bugs at bay...
