yeah, silly mistake, and had this small force get there before my CA's. OOPS!

I remember I did something like that in the previous game at Luganville. You sunk a battleship I believe. After that I never did come out from behind my bases.

Once that Allied airpower gets established somewhere one needs to walk very carefully.

Some minor action to report. IKE has been trying to knock Irau out of supply, killing a good number of barges in the process. He apparently sent several single ship TF's to Lugan to hit them in port. A DD flotilla on station there sank 3 DD's for little damage in return. It was disappointing the rest missed the many minefields in the area, but it's still early.

Have you seen my new port/petrol station at Nevea? Ahhh...those PT boats, subs and surface raider groups are going to have some fun now on your supply line.

Now that I have a port at Nevea and Hundred plus heavy bombers you might want to consider how many Regiments you are prepared to lose at Irau...

When I come nothing is going to get out.

is that the same group that just lost 3 DD's and about a half dozen pt's? Oh, and when you come to Irau?? When are you heading my way? I doube you are silly enough to come up without fighter cover ( although I wish you would), so I still have at least two months. As you like to say, all those Bettys can do a lot of damage.

Personally, I think it's a decoy to take my attention away from PM when you hit there. Rest assured the 8th army is ready for you also.

News flash from Toyko Rose! The mighty KB once again rules the waves!

that's right sports fans, we have now doubled our carrier strenth! We can now send twice the airpower forward to clear the seas of the imperalistic US navy!

Amazing how much having a little CVE arrive can do for one's morale when the whole of the KB is sunk or back in Japan!  LOL!!!

I think IKE works for FOX news or something. He failed to mention that a DD and CA were damaged by mines in these riads. Also, Bettys sunk one transport, badly damaged two more, and an escortin DD. Plus, that there are not nearly as many PT's for these raids as when this started two weeks ago. Overall I think IKE is getting the better side of this battle for the moment. Hoever, Hiyo is due to arrive any day, and once I can put 3 CVL's in the area, he should have to be a bit more careful.

I had to scuttle that DD but with the Cruiser the mine did no damage it seemed.

Yes and Brian has wasted no time in letting me see them.

He has them parked off Irau and loaded with Torpedo planes. No doubt hoping to catch a Battleship bombardment group.

Just two of them. I had a half-dozen minelayers heading that way and wanted to keep your combat groups away for a few turns. By the way, how many PT's do you have left?

Ohhhh...I don´t know. They´re laying around here and there, I lost count of them actually.

That torpedo sure looks menacing under that plane no?

Would look better into the side of the Washington!

6 more PT's gone this turn. the crews of the few you have left should be about ready to revolt! Laying around is right, some under the sea here... some under the sea there... I bet you have lost count of how many you have lost. the nice thing is you can always go to the ships sunk file and count them

That's one of the disparities that chaps my ass. The damn wooden boats show up in the sunk ship list, padding the list for the Japs while the barges DON'T show up in the list to pad it in a similar way for the Allies!

just fine, how is your raiding fleet doing? Another CL hit a mine, and one DD sunk this turn, for several barges. At least you are finding all my minefields early. good thing you have lots of extras from the Cv escort groups you do not need anymore.

It's not spin, I just did not bother to count them.

this turn Ike tried to send in a DD group past Irau. I had 2 of 3 val Groups foolishly set to ASW altitude, but scored heavy damage on 2, and hits on 2 more. We'll see how many make it back to base.

By the way Ike, what is Japan's point lead up to?

I was lucky there. I was wanting my DD´s to go in, hit some things then run back out. They ran in and stayed.

If your Vals had been set at a higher altitude you´d probably have sunk them all. So I got lucky.

I think your around....what, 5,000 points ahead.

Just over 5100 I think. I keep forgetting to look when I have our game loaded. Irau is on half-rations, and many of my barges are gone, but I am happy that IKE is letting me inflict losses on him a few at a time instead of hitting me with everything at once later.

Add 6 US DD's to IKE's list. Oh, and several more Barges of mine. Ike sent in 2 more groups to hit Irau. His BB/CL group did some good damage. The follow up TF of 6 DD's stayed around too long and was sunk by land based air from Lugna.

Yes, Irau is out of supplies, and nearly every Barge I have is gone, but overall, I am happy at the rate of exchange so far.

How did you´ve managed to take that many US subs out of commission? Wondering about your ASW tactics....

IKE moved more subs than I have ever seen in around Lugna, and I had set a lot of planes to ASW. Later, several have show up around Truk, and have not had good luck with my escorts. I think another one may have gone down from when IKE posted this, I am not sure.

in other news, IKE has a nice trick. He pulled his cap down at Luganville so my Bettys would fly. I lost 10 bombers, for 1 torp hit on the Washington, 1 each on two other CL's, and 2 on a third cruiser. Not sure that was worth it for ships in port.

Ah, I see! But otherwise the japanese hasn´t too much to worry about proper ASW tactics due to their lack of killing power in this. And later on, you just won´t have enough vessels to spare for...

the attrition continues. a follow up port srike showed only 1 DD in port now, one additional hit was scored. Ike also ran a large bombardment group at Irau. 1 DD hit a mine, and a newly arrived BB hit 2. I am not sure if anything else hit one, as the recap goes by much to fast and I have not figred how to slow it down. An additional DD was hit by a SS torp on the way out. Ike has moved his horde of subs to Truk, and a small was lost this turn also. sometimes i stinks being Japan at 100%

Now if Toyko would just release the 2 CV's up there, I would be very happy.

Update - the following turn another group hit Irau. One one mine hit in a Ca this time.
