Are there any updates on how the physical shipments are coming along for the latest releases? I understand about the printer problems. The only reason I ask is that my wife wants to get me some games for Christmas and if these are not going to be ready (especially the Battleground series) I need to look elsewhere for Christmas gifts.

Thanks!

Another lucky one whose wife is considerate enough to think of wargames as presents - I once got one for Valentine

It was suggested a couple of times before but I think Matrix could make a few sales by having a "wargame widows push this" button where you can buy vouchers for games.

Greetz,

Ok, I'll give you the best estimate we have - As far as we currently know, the pending physical copies should start showing up by December 1st. The latest they should be in our store is December 14th for the most recently released titles.

Regards,

- Erik

Are any of you actually ever surprised by what games you get? Is it just me or do you basically just tell your wife which one(s) to buy and even go so far as to order it yourself? Let her wrap it then fain enthusiasm at opening it and pretty much save up any emotion towards it for that moment when you actually get to install and play it?

If so then what difference does any of the above even make? Print out a photo of the game box and have her wrap that. Then digitally download it and save the $10. Or buy the boxed upgrade later.

Kenner once sold a million+ kids Star Wars Figure boxes without figures even in them. Simply IOUs. If kids can be happy with an IOU surely an adult can be as well :)

It works at my house anyway...

PS. If you do download them yourself you could always let her wrap the burned cd in a dvd case. If your really slick you might even be able to play it ahead of time as well. After all one wargame looks like another to the non-wargamer. She won't even realize you've been playing it all the way up till Christmas!!

You're absolutley right Veldor...it is more just a show for the kids. If I get it for Christmas I do plan to be playing the download version well before the 25th; what they don't know won't hurt, eh

Well you have those like ME Veldor who won't buy anything direct download unless forced to and I can save the $10 Matrixgames charges by buying it from NWS who sells the physical copy for the same price Matrixgames charges for direct download. So, that's why the physical copy is more important to me to be under the christmas tree. Plus we don't have that get me THIS particular one deal at christmas. We give each other lists of what we would LIKE to have and then allow those that are purchasing to buy what they want to buy for each other and it IS a surprise instead of the fake OH LOOK WHAT I GOT YAY bs. lol Our lists have to be broad also, none of this listing five computer games and nothing else. ;) Christmas is about giving and sharing NOT GETTING WHAT YOU WANT all the time you pagans. lol
