In the manual in multiple places the unit quality is described as a scale of 0-9. In the unit display, however, there is a letter assigned to the unit quality rating.

Is there a translation or a way to convert the way it displays in the game?

Perhaps something like the following?

A = 9
B = 8 -> 6
C = 5 -> 4
D = 3 -> 2
E = 1 -> 0

Regards!

In the NB games it is 1-9, in the ACW games it is 1-6.

This is more clearly shown in the HPS ones where 7,8,9 are A+, A++, A+++

They are different, yes.

I only own the ACW games and in the manual it says 0-9. So now I'm even more confused!

So is it A-E, 0-6, or 0-9 and how can I translate the letter ratings?

If it's 0-6 and the letters are A-F then that makes total sense, but I don't recall seeing any units in the bull run scenario that were an F. (granted there may not be any F units in the scenario I played!)

Sorry Sparty, looks like that was a copy-paste issue with the manual. The ACW quality goes from A-E, with A = 9 and E = 1 in terms of the Napoleonic 1-9 rating scale

Hey Erik,

Awesome. Thanks for the quick reply. I knew it had to be something easy that I was obviously missing!

BTW, if it's any consolation, which I bet you already know, the manual is excellent and points out what info is in the online help vs. the manual which is cool. I have seen posts about the original games that said it was kind of a toss up on where you'd find information. So I appreciate the rewrite of the manual to include the biggies like optional rules coverage!

Actually, it goes from A-F as there are Union units at Stone's River which is F quality.

In the ACW A=6, B=5 and so on down to F=1.

In the Nappy battles it is 1-9 so in reverse it is F, E, D, C, B, A, A+, A++, A+++.
