Not sure if it's been asked or not but probably has(didn't find in quick search) but will Op losses be increased?

From the AE/WITP announcement:
Operational losses overall are now at a higher, more realistic level for the Pacific theater.

Thanks new it would be somewhere just didn't find it myself.

pad152 - op losses can be a/c only losses but there is a chance to lose pilot as well not sure how chance is determined but with higher op losses will come a chance for more pilot losses. Think of the # of losses due to training accidents & the instance I mentioned, all of the losses I was refering to where pilot losses mostly due to at the time of the war very little sub lifeguard missions were run.

One of the tweaks to the Ops loss routine has to do with tracking damage. It used to be that damage was not carried over from one phase to another, or even from one day to the next. Now it is.

In addition Aircraft damaged beyond a certain % of their DUR can be stricken from the inventory or "written off". The result is another category of Ops lass that requires the pilot to successfully land a damaged crate before it is even checked for ops loss.

In case we find the ops losses too much (I have a feeling I might) - will there be any way to tone them down?
I'm talking both about game options and game tactics.

wow, really impressing!

Another question that might have been asked before, but I can´t find it. Will flak fire in AE (land based or ship based) effect the accuracy of attacking bombers? IIRC Nik once stated that this isn´t the case in WITP.

Flak should dramatically affect the accuracy of attacks--that's its most important effect in reality. The Commonwealth put AA guns on its merchants early in the war. They were discovered to have near-nil chance (4%) of shooting down attacking aircraft, but they were quite good at protecting the ship. In Morse and Kimball, they give the following statistics for low-level attacks on merchant vessels:

-------------AA fired--AA not fired
Bombs dropped-632------304
Bombs hit--------50--------39
Percent hits-------8--------13
Ships attacked-155--------71
Ships sunk-------16--------18
Percent sunk-----10-------25

I think the figures tell the story. There were similar figures for dive bombing attacks.

Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered, but will the number of pilot losses be listed??  I'm running into some serious a2a over Burma at the end of 1942 and I would like to know how many pilots both sides lose each day when I look up how many for each aircraft type.

Thanks

Not at this time. Unless you want to Mod the database and change DUR ratings for All aircraft. But that is dangerous...

In your case you would find this new feature helpful.

In each Air unit we list Pilot losses to: A2A, Ops loss, Whether pilots are KIA, MIA, or WIA, and are categorized as current day or total.

Man, that's great. I track my WIAs by unit, which is a pain in the butt, so I don't put too many of the scarce trained pilots in a unit. This is great!

Heyho. Little thing, more for eye candy and nomenclature than anything else. Is there going to be any differentation between same aircraft but serving with multiple nations? Ie. Will we have TBF Avengers and the RN equivalent Tarpon. Hellcats and RN Gannets. Blenheim IVs and RCAF Bollingbrokes. ETC... RCAF, RNZAF and RAAF Kittyhawks. Markings and schemes are different as were production numbers available per nation. Seeing as there are a kabillion slots now...

Don't know if this has been covered but has then been any thought of revisiting max sorties. Specifically limiting torpedo loadouts. Just finished "Shattered Sword" and it states that IJN CVs carried max 36 torpedos each. Thats just two full torpedo squadron sorties each. The current system just doesnt model this severe RL limitation well enough IMHO. That goes for LBA as well. The current infinite supply for LBA torp loadouts allows Bettys/Nells not to mention Beauforts, Swordfish and Vildebeast to appear far too effective. How about requireing something like a minimal base supply level  (25,000?) for LBA to load torps?

How about Air Force lint? Would that work as well?

Naw, too much gold braid in Air Force lint. It tends to cause holes in the pocket, resulting in the loss of the Greek coins...

Will it be possible to sort the Air Leaders list by "expertise" in AE? Right now I can sort by "Leadership" and a couple of other factors, but most of the time I want to find a specific "Type" of Air Leader, such as a "Patrol" leader or a "Transport" leader or so on. In WitP I have to go through the list and click each available leader to see his "specialty".

Thanks -

The dutch problem is being addressed. I thought Thomas answered this a while back...

Does this mean that dates for upgrading aircraft for Dutch and UK are being debated/looked at or will they be the same?

Thanks.

EDIT: Sorry Ian, if the latter was directed at me, I skimmed through most of the thread but didn't see anything mentioned about upgrade dates for Dutch and UK.

Hardcode gone. Brit & Dutch treated just like any other services. What, when, and how many a/c they'll have available for upgrade initially is another matter.

question :
is it possible  to mark enemy group hex for which air groups are forbidden to go ????
too often i saw how my airstrikes coming from smaller base attack without any sense enemy carrier TF
even if there was plenty of easy targets in range
i'd like to see a possibility to switch off air unit aggressivness or at least ability to prevent such suicide strikes

Any hope of getting Tabby's listed as both a IJN and IJA a/c? Would really love that for PDU games. Nothing like even more streamlined production with the better a/c.

According to Francillon, no. Nothing to prevent modders from creating an IJAAF "L2D" or linking the IJNAF version to the IJAAF upgrade path, though.
