I haven't played TOAW since number 2 so I am a bit behind on developments.

So, a question to long term players:

What would you rank as your top 5 short single player scenarios?
Also. Top 5 pbem scenarios (big or small).

Finally, if anyone feel like playing some of the Vietnam scenarios with me, then I am interested. I mean those Combat Operation scenarios.

Should I take this as a sign that nobody plays anything but FITE?
Pity, I kind of like the more compact scenarios, if anything I think TOAW handles them best.

Still would like to play that Vietnam Combat Ops with someone.

Agree, however I don't have all that much time to play these days.

France 1940 is fun. Its 18 turns.

Operation bagaration - soviet conquest of Germany 50 turns.

And FITE... but thats hardly short. Most games stops prematurly though.

I think that the main disqualifier was asking for single player scenarios. That said, here are my suggestions, in rough order of complexity:

Arracourt 44, in the Classic TOAW folder. Play first as the US, to get you up to speed. Then, as the Germans, for a challenge.
Anonymous Heroics. Use the Red PO attacks version in the Tutorial folder, and play as Grey.
Tannenberg 14, in the Classic TOAW folder, as the Russians.
Kharkov 42, in the Classic TOAW folder, as either, though the Soviets will be a little more of a challenge.
Two Weeks in Normandy 1944, in the WWII - West Front folder, as either side. This one is excellent as a PBEM game, and the PO might be a little out of its league against experienced players, but it's still a good one. A bit more involved than the others and really more of a medium sized scenario.

I thought the PO was improved quite a bit in TOAW3 but then I am not a pro player.

Just wondering, can the PO play a decent game in those Vietnam scenario?
I mean either the Indochine or Combat Operations variant. I am wondering how PO handles those huge maps.

Marcus, the manual clearly state that these scenarios (Vietnam Combat Operations) are meant to be played from the allied side only with no PBEM possible, I've tried to recreate historical enemy actions using some 'tricks' and anyone trying to play the communist side would get uterly frustrated (very little control on most units, formations appearing and withdrawing with no apparent reasons etc...)

Yep I realised that, I changed my PBEM requiest accordingly ;).

Still looks interesting from a single player pov. What Vietnam scenario comes closest to VG.s boardgame then?

There was an old TOAW II/COW scenario by Brian Topp called America's War in Vietnam that was a direct adaptation of VG's Vietnam:

Great. Thanx.

I will play your scenarios too, do you plan to release more after no4? I want to play those Indochine
scenarios too, never finished them last time I played TOAW(no2).

Of course, my intent is to cover the whole war, Volume 5 (1 January - 31 May 1967) is half finished but I can't seem to find enough time lately to work on it

Kharkov 42(Original one for playing against Elmer, new one for playing against myself)
Korea 50-51, definitely a classic
Balkan 12/13, sweet cookies
Middle East 73(mini WP vs NATO imo)
Red Thunder(well, real WP vs NATO)

I wish I could play some better version of Patton 45/Fulda 55/Fulda 76

France 1940 is fun.

Really, really bad. Without wanting to go into it at length, not balanced, not realistic.

Is this the classic France40? Are there more realistic versions out? I read about the SPI lookalikes (case White etc).

A tad too many units right now though. It was such a long time ago and I am a bit overwhelmed by all the counters in those big ones (haven't even opened FITE).

There are a couple of slight improvements- but nothing outstanding.

..yes, no (there's a french version, but i can't get it to download, but given the site Neufel's Freefrench, i've hopes for it even if it only covers the battle for France)..

..otherwise, it needs doing properly..
